Forums - Nintendo - 3DS XL hands-on video: 'Lighter, better 3D, more comfortable'

CVG

The first hands-on video showing the Nintendo 3DS XL in action has been posted by French site Puissance Nintendo.

According to the site's playtester, the new model is lighter, more comfortable and sports a visibly improved 3D effect.

Here's a summary of their impressions, viaNeoGAF:

  • The screens are huge
  • The 3D effect is easier on the eye and nicer to look at.
  • The technology behind the 3D might have been improved on the XL model.
  • They think there's some kind of "filter" at works because the pixels appear "rounded."
  • The XL is much more comfortable to hold than the original 3DS
  • Buttons feel well placed and of better quality.
  • The circle pad appears bigger.
  • Surprisingly light for its size.
  • 3DS games will gain new life from the XL.
  • Speakers and sound doesn't appear to have been improved.

The updated handheld carries screens that are 90% bigger and improved battery life. For more details on the system, hit the link to read our http://www.computerandvideogames.com/354872/nintendo-3ds-xl-release-date-details-revealed/">Nintendo 3DS XL announcement news.

That "hands-on video" was the greatest pile of crap I have seen for a long time. Also:

"- The 3D effect is easier on the eye and nicer to look at.
- The technology behind the 3D might have been improved on the XL model.
- They think there's some kind of "filter" at works because the pixels appear "rounded."

Sounds like BS to me (well, in their defense they did say "might" and "think"). I remember the first time I played with my DS XL and the graphics actually felt better. The bigger screens are simply fooling the eyes.
