Mario's versatility makes him able to appear in any genre he chooses. In my opinion, Nintendo just uses Mario as a recognizable face for whatever gameplay mechanics they want to explore in their games, since the story is rarely the reason we buy into Mario games. I have a sneaking suspicion that the guys at Naughty Dog seriously hate Nintendo because how adamant they are about story in video games, yet Mario games counter that philosophy entirely. It was a good laugh. |
Naw Gaming Journalist, Nintendo haters, MS and Sony fans are jealous because Mario counters all their beliefs of what a video game should be.
The fact that Mario is still the King of gaming and that more people around the world would rather play a 2D Mario game then Halo, Uncharted, Gears, GOW, etc pisses them off. So they attack Mario by saying he has to many games and is milked. Of course pretty much all of Mario's games are amazing and people love them.
To put it bluntly they hate the fact that Mario is unique and is so much more unique and interesitng then the generic characters like Nathan Drake, Master Chief, Kratos, Marcus fenix and the gears.
I mean Mario can fly, shoot fire balls out of his hands, rides on top of a dinosaur, is a professional kart racer, Dr., and olympic athlete, has traveled through space and time, Weapon of choice is his feet/hammer. Saved the galaxy...twice. Is acrobatic. the list goes and on.
Mario doesn't need guns/blood/and gratious violence to be interesting or cool. He does it by being unique and fun!
Because of this the haters despise him and are jealous.
