Forums - Gaming - Nintendo: Wii U could become "preferred" Call of Duty platform!

for COD or any FPS its a bad idea to make the gamers to look away from the screen. yes, the ability to play the game without the TV is cool, but thats it. the screen can be useful in a racing game as a rear-view mirror (like sony say they could do with PSP and GT5 but that i believe they didn't go trough with it) or in some other situation that is just a casual glance needed and by being always in the TV screen could be annoying, but those cases are not as common as nintendo its trying to make us believe.

The maturity of people on this site truly is funny, the screen has more uses then a dumb mini map obviously. PS3 and 360 gamers do know of the full map on the pause screen correct? That could be the map he is referring too. You could use that full game map to see precisely where your enemies are instead of that mini map that only shows enemies nearby. Or the screen could be a rear view so you can watch your back while watching what's ahead. Obviously that screen has many more possibilities than an stupid mini map lol. You could even map out your routes to teammates or map out your own route to show teammates where you headed to ambush. It could be used by teammates to reveal campers or could be the screen for cameras.

It's funny how people assume that only "grown hardcore" gamers play COD, that game is full of 11-12 year olds lol, now if those kids get the Wii U which will be out at least a year before the other consoles, and COD comes out on the Wii U, why not?

I've seen grown men upwards fifty years old buying COD when I worked at Gamestop. That game has everyone hooked besides moms who mostly bought Wii titles (I was surprised at how many moms knew about Wiifit.). If they have the titles on the Xbox 360 or PS3 when the next consoles roll around why would they want Nintendo for games like COD? Granted COD was fun on Nintendo, but no. Playing the game on the Wii and the 360, two different experiences entirely and Nintendo stated themselves that they are not read to go up against Microsoft and Sony in the online department.

Agreed on the age factoron COD games, I know my 33 year old friend who loves it and my 10 year old nephew, now, all I am saying is that if the Wii U does have a strong impact on sales and we see a lot of gamers bringing one home then if the next COD also comes out on the Wii U, don't you think theres a chance all those Wii U owners might want to try it on the newest console available? You ask why would they switch? I ask why not? its a valid point.

Someone's daydreaming at NoA... look, if the map is on the Gamepad, you can't play and look at the map at the same time! Currently on PS360, we perform a quick glance at the map so as to monitor the opponents' moves without being caught off guard, which can only be done if the map is on the TV! This Moffitt folk has clearly never played a FPS online. There's not even 0,1% chance to see Call of Duty gamers switch from PS360 to WiiU, especially if the rumored price of 399€ comes true. Also, if Nintendo wants to reach the core audience, they should change their PR focus quickly because Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros U aren't going to convince many core gamers.

and oh... some advice for Nintendo. If Black Ops II does release on WiiU, don't do that :

While it would be cool to have a map on the gamepad screen, I think it would ultimately be less convenient, because you would have to look away from the television, which might not help in a fast-paced game like COD

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

My question to you is...why buy a console that is offering you everything you already have? Nintendo needs to be making new IP's to make use of the Wii U, not going after the COD crowd. They came late to that party and next gen they are going to be gimped. It's mostly loyal Nintendo fanatics and probably a couple new users who will buy the Wii U. The casual hype is over, which means 70% of the casual sales they attained this generation will vanish. The gaming industry has expanded so we're looking at 50-60 Million consoles at best next generation. If Nintendo pumps out their own titles rather than trying to be like the competition whilst utilizing their hardware they should do better than that, if they try to be like the PS3/360 they will have dealt with an already satisfied market and have slow sales. Nintendo has always been in their own world. I think they should stay that way for their health. The Wii U is an intriguing piece of hardware and if games are made for it well enough I might purchase it myself. If they are trying to do what the "HD Twins" are doing its of no value to me and I am sure many other core gamers.

On another note, Im certain the same Sony fans didn't see Grand Theft Auto selling well on another platform after San Andreas and yet look how that turned out. 360 and PS3 are the preferred consoles THIS gen but what about next gen. That's what he is probably referring too not taking 360 and PS3 gamers. The point of the WiiU is to ruin the future of PS4 and next Xbox. Before HD gamers even try to say how the next gen COD is going to be way better on next Xbox and PS4 remember how Activision didn't even take advantage of the extra power the PS3 has.

You are 100% correct. Most of the people here  hatin' can't or don't have the ability to think outside of their little box.

The way the Wii U was displayed at E3 it wont ruin anything for the next batch of Playstation and Xbox consoles. It will just enjoy its early first year sales.

I don't think so, but who knows!
