Forums - Gaming - Anarchy Reigns Delayed to 2013 in the west. P* was not even informed, found out from the Internet.

“The First We’d Heard of It,” Producer Says

If this doesn’t prove there is a serious communication issue within Sega’s chain of command, nothing will.  After news broke yesterday concerning the fate of Anarchy Reigns in the West, Platinum Games executive director and producer Atsushi Inaba took to his Twitter account and claimed the developer was never told about the game’s fate.

“Today’s Q1 2013 release news was the first we’d heard of it,” Inaba said.  “Even if we wanted to, we can’t comment as we’re (still) in the dark officially.”

Despite that remark, Inaba assured fans the game’s International version will remain the same as it is in Japan, and also noted the game’s Japanese release date of July 5th hasn’t changed.

“I want to sincerely apologize to all the fans worldwide for all the confusion this situation has caused,” Inaba continued.  “Even though we are the game’s developers, we can only do so much about this…However, we hope you can continue to support Anarchy Reigns and look forward to playing it with us in the future. Thank you.”

These are the types of situations that can damage publisher-developer relationships if either side is not careful.  Though we may not hear about the game proper for a little while, it appears the drama surrounding it has only started to ferment.

I can kinda see why this would be funny, but its not. What is up with SEGA to have them behave like that?

With the game already being in every language necessary for localization, I can't think of any reason to do this other than to keep delaying it until people forget about it, then quietly cancel it. I'll bet Platinum is happy to be dealing with Konami and Nintendo instead of Sega's dying ass.

Most/all of their IP's are owned by SEGA. I cant see why'd they be happy to leave them behind.

Between this and the management of Aliens: Colonial Marines, SEGA is just giving everyone a big FU.

Because Platinum can shit amazing IPs, the likes of which Sega will never create again, so it's no big loss.

I kinda forgot that the game has a multi language option. SEGA has it cancelled in the west and hopes ppl import it. SEGA makes SONIC more legendary than anything P* has done.

... I now officially hate Sega. As if sending Vanquish out to die with almost no push at all wasn't bad enough they now seem intent to kill off Anarchy Reigns. Guess it will be importing for me.

As it was Anarchy reigns was actually releasing at a great time. I know the general assumption is video games don't sell in the summer months but really I don't think that applies to niche core titles. AR was never gonna sell a bazillion units anyhow. As it was Anarchy Reigns was basically the only quality title releasing in July. Coming off what has been a fairly empty June as well. It would have had a fair number of gamers who read forums, review sites etc attention purely for the fact it would be getting reviews, coverage etc in what is otherwise a lull.

The worst part of all this is Sega does own the IPs. Bayonetta? Vanquish? Madworld? Anarchy reigns? Everything in them is Sega's.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

Sonic is certainly more well known, sure. But since that's one of, like, two IPs Sega wants to use moving forward, they will Guitar Hero the shit out of him in no time. And let's face facts: Sonic is pretty terrible. It was vaguely impressive back in the day, but once you get past the speed gimmick, there's no there there. The worst Mario >>>>>>>>> the best Sonic.
