Not looking forward to next gen consoles anytime soon. Most they are going to offer is better graphics and slightly better multimedia capabilities. Not that important at this stage. 2014-2015 would be fine with me.

yea, same here, I have a backlog of atleast 20 games for my PS3 and I tend to finish maybe 4-5 a year on average

You finish only 4-5 games per year? Do you play on other platforms than the PS3?

Yea I play on PC, mostly games like (with friends):LoL, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2  (solo):Civ5 and X³.

And when I play PS3 I often pop in Rock Band 3, GT5 or Hot Shots Golf 5 instead of finishing one of the other games, hehe. Well with PSN games it's probably ~15 a year.

Actually... at this point it would be very difficult to convince me to buy a new system. Even looking at the best of E3 like watch dogs and Star wars 1313... it was more of the same a tad prettier. Thats what next gen is gonna be and im not sure i care much about that. Current gen might aswell keep going and reducing costs until we can get games that are more interesting and different aswell as new IP's.

i half agree.  if you limit yourself to boxed/retail games...yeah you are pretty much right.  psn/xbla, however, have quite a different set of games that really compliments things well.  i've been very impressed at the variety of games this gen, but it does take a bit more leg work to find them as psn/xbla are harder to get information on (aka not a ton of media attention).

I would say that is going too far. I want the PS4 now more than a 720 because I expect Sony to provide more new IPs I want based on their history. I do not have much reason to expect much more than more of the same from MS. Not to mention unlike last gen where I was ready to instantly ditch my PS2 and xbox, I am not ready to ditch the PS3. I can handle  all at once.

 

OT: The time for much originality in this gen is over and despite there being many games, I still want to play on 360 and PS3. I want the new gen asap. Beyound and the Last of US do not have drop dates so I am not excited until they are announced and if they do not come out this Christmas (which they wont) I am sure as hell ready.

Still want the Wii U if D21Lewis gets me a Christmas present.

Yes this gen has gotten very stale now. Next gen handhelds are already out but the next gen for consoles will start at the end of this year.

as obvious as it is the PS3 is the only console that still has some juice left to be squeezed from. since it took so long to reach the status of quality weather in graphics or the variety of its exclusives to this day and still pumping new IP's for the next year. so of course i dont want the PS4 to be released until 2014 which seems fit to let the PS3 run its course.

a 5 year advance in processing power would give you more then "somewhat" better graphics. or graphics will be similar but there would be a lot more on scree, maybe better physics. the biggest improvements I forsee is in draw distances. like in skyrim you got the fog and stuff its much less on PC.

another thing is enemies on screen will greatly improve.. you can't say what next gen will look like unless you play a game on max settings PC. I reccomend crysis 1 with the realism mod, GTA 4 with the realism mod,  and i think the game is called hydrophobia? it has like realistic water physics. an BF3 on pc looks good too.
