Forums - Sony - I recently got a PS Vita. My review.

Good review, it was everything I expected. I can't afford to buy the Vita right now and I learned that most of the time it's best to get a new console a couple years after it's release, usually they'll have a cheaper, more games, lite or slim better version of it (probably better camera to, like you mentioned the camera was kind of shitty).

I'm not big on multitasking on video games, I like to play one game and play it start to finish then move on, I hate playing multiple games. So because of this I'm going to try and play all the PS3 games I want to play (which theres still SOOOO many), then maybe in a couple years I might be done of them and maybe they might stop coming out with awesome games because Sony will be focusing on the PS4... hopefully. So I'll get a PSVita around the PS4 launch and play it for a couple years until it's wise to get the PS4 and I can afford to get. It's how i game :)

I play my Vita in the mall without an ounce of embarrassment.  That's why I bought it.  Nobody has ever made me feel awkward.  Possibly because I look like this:

*note*  Yes.  This pic WAS taken after a satisfying poop.

Then you should probably be smiling or at least have a look of smug self-satisfaction.

The thing about portable games in general (not including mobile games on iOS) is that they take a bit more time to play and get into that the typical throwaway title on smartphones so they really are best reserved for those who commute on a train, work shift hours with lots of dead time, or maybe even game in bed for at least a half hour before going to sleep.

It probably explains why I got the most mileage out of the GBA and DSl: it was when I was working long shift hours with dead time.

It also explains why the PSP was barely used despite building up a pretty decent library of good titles. Unless I played at home, I had no reason to break out a portable game for a half hour or more due to dead time.

Games on the PSV and 3DS basically have to compete for my gaming time when at home meaning in bed before going to sleep is about the only use they see unless I get a random urge to play X game during the day time.

But, if I ever find myself working in the middle of nowhere on long shifts, removed from the living room, or commuting by train to avoid traffic those portables will likely see a ton of use.

That IS my smile.

You played Vita games in a mall? That's cool. I would never have the guts to play a handheld inside a mall, especially at my age, but not even if I was 20 or 25.

Why wouldn't you?

Because it feels embarrassing and I fear that people would think I'm a nerd.

When I sit at home I think, "hey, I could do that. There's nothing wrong with gaming in public" but a few days ago I brought my 3DS to the mall and was going to check on StreetPass (where Miis meet I think lol) but as soon as I had opened the device I got the feeling that people would see my as a nerd so I immediately put it back in my pocket and I couldn't force myself to pick it up again until I was outside the mall hidden behind a wall.

are you serious? I bring my vita and play it everywhere I travel and I am 24.

I'm 29 and do the same; in fact the older we get, the less we give a shit about what people think.

lol, so I don't get a random idiot's seal of approval? Too bad, I don't care either way.

Life is too short for me to stop from doing something I enjoy, just because of what someone might think of it. Just... play away! Long live play. :P
