Forums - Gaming - Nintendo Exec Scott Moffitt 'Flattered' By Microsoft's Smart Glass

I don't think Smart Glass was ever the answer to the Wii U, it was more of Microsoft's answer to the Apple TV. MS just wants to turn any TV connected to the Xbox 360 (which is pretty much a set top box now) into a smart TV. If while doing so they happen to give developers a new control scheme, then thats a bonus. But I highly doubt anyone is going to incorporate a 3rd controller besides the normal one and kinect.

Oh please Nintendo, I Pad are already doing this stuff with Apple TV, PSP already did remote play, There is already a Vita game that links up with the PS3 for dual screen gaming (UMvC3), everyones done it and got there products to market first Ninty.

Im not saying Nintendos wont be good, in fact it might even be alot better, but they need to get off there high horse a bit.

Microsofts coarse attemp to make WiiU gamepad irrelevant...

It's funny because when you compare the Wii U pad to Smartglass, Nintendo actually has the more hardcore friendly option... Even if the hardcore audience decide to ignore both.

@ClassicGamingWizzz Please do elaborate.

nintendo these days spend more time talking about microsoft and sony than wiiU, just look at the threads posted here , wii is a dead platform with no support and we dont even know spec and price of wiiU.

iwata said ps4 and nextbox will have no huge boost in specs , that is what he want because he dont want to lose support from 3partys again ..

sorry for bad english :P

Don't worry, you are easier to understand than certain Americans =)

I wouldn't say that talking about the competition has anything to do with fear. If anything, it indicates that they are confident that they are the innovators, and that they want their current and potential fans to be aware of that.

It's true though that they fear loosing third party support, which is why they are justifying their moves with this statement. So I'll give you that.

one game on the Vita? PSP remote play? you compare that to the awesomness of the WiiU gamepad?

What he's saying is that Sony (and others) have already successfully done the 2 screen stuff. Wii U isnt the first. Sony have already done this and are still doing it.

Think of Sony's version as the Wii Remote and Nintendo's version as PS Move. Not success-wise, just by what they do.

I agree Nintendo is clearly going to get more support as its built in with the price, and its there big USP. But the fact there posturing that there flattered pople are copying them, when there years behind getting there product out is a joke.

I think Wii U should sell well, Spec wise it sounds like its going to be close to Basic 4GB 360 but with a more advanced pad, building in a bit of extra profit i reckon it will launch at $250 and at that price it should be flying off the shelves, if they go to $300+ i think they may have people waiting for a price cut like they did with the 3DS

yeah but that "everyone has done it" is not accurate at all
Sony has barely achieved something with the Vita and less with the PSP
Apple is another story, ill give you that...

"specs wisse its going to be close to Basic 4GB 360 but with a more advanced pad"

The WiiU has nothing to do with the Xbox 360, it has 3 or for times the RAM, a better gpu and a more modern cpu,
the storage capacity has not been unveiled yet, also the launch price hasnt been announced....
