Thousands of customers flooded to the website due to the low price (£199) for the console, despite that Nintendo has not yet announced the RRP for the system.

Amazon has apologised for the "error" in a mass-email sent to those who pre-ordered the new console. The letter, which was republished in full on the NeoGAF forum, reminded customers to sign up to email alerts for when the console is available.

All pre-orders have been cancelled.

Sad news, but it adds weight to a low WiiU initial launch cost...if you discard the July release date, of course. What do you guys think? Would you get a WiiU at launch for £199 ($219)?

I'm not that enthusiastic about the WiiU, but at that price I'd get one at launch. I've been itching to get a Nintendo console for over a decade now, so I'd probably buy it without even noticing. I just miss Mario games.

Hmm... $219 is completely reasonable. I've been expecting in the $250-$300 range, so anything below that is great. I know that analysts were wanting Nintendo to price it at $199, but I don't think Nintendo cares about analysts' opinions. :)

If it debuts with a base price lower than that of Wii, then I think it would have a higher chance of catching fire. So $219 would be fantastic, and many retailers would toss stuff in for the holidays, probably.

they said about 25000 yen, which is 250 euros, but it think it will be 300euros...

If it's that low I'll probably buy it at launch too. But I highly doubt that it will be that cheap to begin with. £300 at least most likely :

Yes, but initially they also had the 3DS at £249.99, although it launched at £189.99

For some reason, Nintendo didn't "give" an actual RRP for the 3DS, so a price-war took off quickly between multiple retailers. I'm expecting the same thing to happen for the WiiU.

That would be one helluva coup, really.

I saw this the other day, if they got the WiiU out at that price, it could definitely be competitive with the PS3 and 360 in the UK :)
