Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft not attending Gamescom and TGS

Once again this community fails to see the point, and jumps to the wrong conclusion. Microsoft has obviously run a cost benefit analysis of these events, and reached the obvious conclusion. Attending these conferences solely for the purpose of generating some meager good will. Does not justify the tens of millions of dollars that it costs them to attend. The only ones profiting from these events are local businesses, and the proprietors of the establishment that is hosting the event.

Tradition isn't any kind of excuse for a company to waste money on conventions. When that money could be say better spent on I don't know developing games. Now I am going to say something that most of you are going to find extremely upsetting. So before you go bitching to a mod, or start a flame war. Just stop reading right now for your own mental wellness, but if you want the truth here is how I see things.

The only people that give a shit are pasty faced fanboys who think their opinion actually matters. The other ninety nine point nine percent of gamers genuinely don't give a flying fuck. They won't know Microsoft isn't there, and it won't bother them that Microsoft isn't there. You want to know what else I think. Local game conventions should belong to local developers. You know the unappreciated, forgotten, and dismissed. That always get eclipsed by the big three. They deserve a chance to shine, and interact with gamers.

"As you saw at E3, we have a solid line-up of games launching this holiday"

I strongly disagree. Which is why I was hoping the big three would turn up at Gamescom and top that terrible E3. Oh well, it's down to SONY now, hopefully they show something good or at least turn up.

Well it is called GAMES(com) for a reason ^^

Sorry for my bad sense of humor xD

It's always down to Sony. Sony always supports their consoles even after the generations over. They made sure those who bought the PSX, PS2 and soon PS3 will get their fair share of third party titles until they are ready to make th switch, plus they have an extensive backlog.

Could be just me but generally Gamescom and TGS tend to have more megatons than E3. The lack of Nintendo and MS is worrying. Is 2012 just a dud year for gaming?
