Forums - Gaming - Anybody else worried about the lack of reviews for Lollipop Chainsaw?

just because you dont have a score or grade in your head, doesnt mean others dont. What is the alternative? You want that man to spend his money on something he might hate?? WHy?? All that does is encourage more bad to mediocore games being developed.

No what happens is you get people skipping good games because those games don't line up with what reviewers expect. Does it have hype, the best graphics, the most content etc.

Nier only ended up with 69%? Oh well it must be worthless. Dragon's Dogma below 80%? Oh well it clearly isn't an AAA game like Skyrim, no point in playing it.

I want people to be more concerned about the content of the review than the final score.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

I don't even know how. Did they play it with the sound off?

Bad badgenome! Nier got under 70%. It is worthless and shall never have a sequel. Joystiq gave it a 0% and refused to review it because it was so bad.

;-; ow my feelings. Joystiq's 'review' is still to this day utterly shameful. I actually entirely stopped reading their site when they did that.

Haha, I remember that! They couldn't review it because the guy couldn't figure out how to catch a fish or something, right?

I am actually going to take my profile off of privacy mode and link you to my games collection just to show you who you're dealing with.  I mean, I bought and completed X-Blades for Pete's sake!

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/8405/d21lewis/games/collection/#content -It used to be 100% accurate until VGChartz quit letting me add games.

I base my purchases on the collection of information.  I read several reviews (unless it's a high profile game that I KNOW I want.  Then, I don't read any reviews) and see if the reviewers complaints equal my own dislikes.  If they complain about something like lack of online or screen tearing, it doesn't affect my purchase.  If it's a complaint like, "This game was made with the blood of killed babies." well, there's a reason I didn't buy inFamous 2.  Just like there are great games I didn't enjoy (Killzone 3), there are shitty games that I really loved (Blades of Time) as well as shitty games that were really shitty and great games that were truly great.  My limit for a poorly reviewed game that I was interested in is $30.  I've been doing this long enough to know what I like and how to decipher reviews.  I don't just look at the score.  I look at the content of the review.  When you do that with a source that has similar tastes as you, you can't go wrong.

Stop condemning reviews.  They serve their purpose.

*edit* Now that I read your post in the Dragon's Dogma thread, I feel bad about the tone of my reply.  You're okay in my book!  I guess I was writing this while you were writing that.  :(

Yes. When you get the fishing rod and have to go fishing. The guy's house is next to a beach and the reviewer assumed that was the right beach. So he posted a video showing how impossible to catch a fish it was. Then almost immediately someone pointed out that the entire time he was there that there was a BIG RED X on his map showing him where to go.

He panicked and said that having a big red x on the map to show where a quest needs to be done (something done throughout the game) is bad. And that it was bad game design because despite this quest marker players would assume the closest beach was the right one to fish at. Which is simply mind boggling. The game shows you to fish at a specific beach, he ignores this and tries fishing at the closest one anyway. Then blames it on the game and says it doesn't deserve a review and so get's a 0.

@d21 I'm not condeming reviews. I'm condeming the assigning of a score which seems to be the main thing players focus on. You didn't say you didn't want to spend $60 on a game light on content etc, but that you didn't want to spend it on a game that got less than 6/10. Maybe that was simply you using shorthand instead of writing what you meant. However I still feel it shows an attitude of the almighty score being the most important thing.

If you really want wait a few weeks/a month and I can guarantee Lollipop Chainsaw will be less than $60.

And miss out on my DLC?  No way!  I'm getting dressed to go right now!

I did use a bit of shorthand in the OP.  My bad.  I wanted to know the pros and cons of the game, though.

I actually also got stuck when I got the fishing rod lol

I had no idea how to fish and I didn't know where to go. It wasn't that obvious that you had to go to that red X ;..;

My bad then lol. I wondered if you were using shorthand but thought not. My apologies.

Also be glad you get pre-order DLC. The shop I pre-ordered from here in the U.K. offered a free rental of the movie 'The Hills Run Red'. I was less than happy lol. Amazon had the rockabilly and goth outfits but they don't have a bonus point system and have screwed me over on giving me a game release day before.

I guess we get it cheaper though so that's nice.

And Boutrous I will ignore that as you do such a great job with COMG charts =p However I want you to know that inside I'm crying.

I know. It was only a red X. It should have been... bigger and... redder.
