I really didn't like Modnation Racers so I'm still on the fence about this. Besides, Mario Kart 7 is holding up pretty well.

Meh, looks too slow to me. I don't like what Nintendo did to Mario Kart with wider tracks and the slow seeming movements. It was better in the past. Now this game seems to go the same route (note: I'm just talking about the speed here, not "omg a Mario Kart clone"...).
I will get it anyways because I like playing this kind of games.

Speed of the races can be altered depending on who made the track, karts can be uber slow or formula 1 speed fast.

I liked Modnation Racers, I've loved it if it has had decent loading times, so definitely looking forward to this.

Yes, ridiculous. In that time space they've could shown LBP Karting, Sly 4 and also their Wonderbook without a problem.
