Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's E3 was underwhelming

A little bit underwhelming yes. Pikmin looks amazing, mario looks great, the zombie game looks kind of and some third party games are ok I guess, but nintendo failed to deliver the wow factor, I was hoping to see retro's new game, or maybe monolith, EAD or something... Also the lack of Zelda, metroid,Star fox, fzero, smash or any other franchise was a huge letdown... I dont think the conference was terrible, but not good either.

I just want to know, where are the specs of this thing? We now have two consecutive E3's where Nintendo talks about the Wii U...it launches in a few months...and no specs?? Lame.

I don't think Nintendo ever gave specs.

I don't think they ever give specs at all

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Well this is depressing. I just saw a list of games that were shown at the E3 before the Wii's launch. Apparently it was:
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Metroid Prime 3
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wario Ware Touched
Wii Sports

That's 4 BIG core titles, a very high quality mini-game collection and the new casual experience of Wii sports.

I do wonder if Nintendo's attitude in the last few years of only wanting to show games close to release has messed them up. They really needed to show some games that are outside the launch window for Wii U. Coming out next year etc.

I think had they shown Retro's title, switched NSMB-Wii U with 3D mario and perhaps shown a tease for Monolith's game then they could have wowed people. Still not really sure why we are getting two 2d mario games so close to each other. Seems the 2d one for 3ds and 3d for Wii U would have made much more sense.

Your list is missing Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Excite Truck and the GC game Super Paper Mario which was moved to the Wii later on.

The Wii was a celebration of gaming. The Wii U is just something else that tries to sell based on its brandname and trends outside of gaming.

I agree after E3 in 2006 I was wondering which how I could afford all the games at launch since there were so many I wanted. This E3 There's pikmin 3 and then nothing I couldn't get on another console I own. I'm sure there are gamers who only own a wii and would love to play those year old ports but those gamers are few and far between. I bet Pikmin won't even be available at launch either. We didn't even get a taste of the future like we got with the 3ds.

The E3s prior to this gen were really great, both E3 05 and E3 06 were awesome. This E3 was the weakest Ive seen, on par with E3 08. Nintendo really dissapointed. There is literally only 1 launch game I would want and it is Pikmin 3.

Something interesting is that there are big games in development that for some reason were ignored.

For example it's known that Black Ops 2 is in development for Wii U and has already been shown to press behind closed doors. Likewise it's been confirmed that a skylanders game is in development but that too wasn't shown. Given the Wii U's NFC and how big Skylanders is at the moment it seems crazy not to show it.

Likewise last year EA came out and talked VERY BIG about how important the Wii U was and how much they would support it. Since then it's known that a few of the releases you would expect (madden etc) are in development for Wii U.

Yet for some reason that stuff wasn't shown. No idea why.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.
