Forums - Sony - Sony E3 pressconference was the BEST and here is why

ahem, im a huge HUGE Gears of war fan. and i really dont like the class based system that is going to be brought in by the people at People Can Fly? Man oh man did i cringe. CoD. i stopped watching after the sniper shot through walls. Forza oh please, they just put new maps and cars in probably the same engine it may prove me wrong though. im waiting for more info. Fable whatever... i dont even hear about it anymore. Im not saying its better than Sony's because i didnt watch Sony's but man the only good thing i see on your list is Halo 4. Which made me buy Halo Anniversary because i only played 3 through Reach and am so lost.

Yea I'm a huge Gears of War (and Forza) fan and honestly I might skip the next games out of the franchise, or at least wait until they sell for under $20. Bulletstorm was a terrible game and I'm not expecting much from Gears.

MS and Sony both sucked, Nintendo did too for the consoles, handhelds we still dunno since the 3DS conference is tonight, but so far I think 3DS is still the best system on the floor.

You included Wonderbook as a reason why Sony had the best conference?

They all sucked. It's all just sequels and most look the same as existing games. Beyond was the only worthwhile new IP (so far), and except for one or two amazing looking refreshed games on each system (Pikmin 3 for Wii U, Halo 4 for 360, and The Last of Us for PS3), every console manufacterer disappointed.

I came for 3DS, I just really hope Nintendo doesn't diappoint with that press conference.

The Last Of Us is also a new IP. It's not a refreshed game.

Yea, but it plays a lot like Uncharted

Umm... No

In The Last Of Us, there will be no health regen and low ammo. Because of this, shootouts will be a rarity. That makes it extremely different than Uncharted, where shootouts where half the game. The other half of Uncharted is platforming. We haven't seen any platforming in TLoU, so that aspect probably won't be similar. In Uncharted, you basically played like Rambo running through hoards of enemies, kicking ass, and jumping over shit. TLoU has you control a much more vulnerable character. You may get to shoot a few people, but you'd be more encouraged to sneak around enemies.

So please, entertain me. How exactly does it "play a lot like Uncharted"?

It's the same engine, it's really not that different. That's like saying Halo 3 ODST is a different game from Halo 3 or Reach. It's the same engine, similar gameplay, even though your not running around like a bad ass with crazy health.

Anyway, why does everything I say PS3 related have to be contested? This isn't even a negative comment, Uncharted is a great game, and this is a really nice change of atmosphere for the engine. I like the game and this is just my opinion of it.

Well, you did say there was no other interesting new IP's other than Beyond, but Last of Us is technically a new intellectual property, so do you think Last of Us looks bad?

You said it.

Comparing it to Uncharted is nothing like comparing Halo to Halo.  Cause The Last of Us is a NEW IP.  It may be a safe new IP that uses an existing engine, but it's a new IP none the less.

"It's the same engine, it's really not that different."

This is your reasoning for the games playing similarly? Well, that's just wrong. I guess you're going to say Batman is similar to Gears of War since they both use the same engine. The gameplay of TLoU and Uncharted are very different. Uncharted = intense rambo style gunfights & breathtaking platforming. TLoU = survival with a drastically lower emphasis on shooting and probably zero platforming. Why do people say they are similar? No idea.

"That's like saying Halo 3 ODST is a different game from Halo 3 or Reach."

No it's not. You just mentioned three games from the same franchise. All have the same core gameplay. This doesn't apply to TLoU and Uncharted.

"It's the same engine, similar gameplay"

Ive already mentioned why engine means nothing. And I've already mentioned why their gameplay isn't different.

"Anyway, why does everything I say PS3 related have to be contested?"

I don't know. I don't care. It's irrelevant. I don't know why you brought it up. I'm not contesting what you said because it has to do with a PS3 exclusive. I'm contesting what you're saying because it's wrong.

You said Uncharted played a lot like TLoU. That's wrong. They may be slightly similar...maybe, but saying they have a lot of similarities is not just an exxageration, it's wrong. How exactly are they similar? Same engine. Third person view. You can shoot people. That's about all I can think of and I challenge you to give me some specific elements. (i.e. Not elements that cover entire genres).

Couldn't agree more.  I like your points on the gameplay.  Pretty stoked on this game.

You wave a wand in the air to make bs spells. How is that any better then Batman Armored Edition for Wii U (which looks way cooler IMO) or NintendoLand? Pikmin 3 is the king of motion games this E3, sorry.

The Batman demo was the visible proof that the system simply won't work (at least in any action game). Check the demo again (if the video is up somewhere). You will notice how the game STALLED WHENEVER the player had to switch to the pad/from the pad (which always requires eye focus adaption). That is the key downfall of the idea: You can't focus on the pad AND the screen at the same time (with a wand, you do not need to focus on the controler at all). How are you going to fight enemies on screen while looking onto the pad? How are you going to change "stuff" on the pad while you are concentrated on finding/evading enemies on screen? Not possible. Notice in the demo that absolutely nothing happens in the game while the player fiddled with the pad. Nice copout, but this turnes any action game into the "dumbest AI imaginable" variety.

your comment was extremely stupid thats why. anyone that has seen the E3 gameplay knows this game is nothing like uncharted at all.

I agree, I was just being lazy with my wording. I wanted to put TLoU with Pikmin 3 and Halo because I think they all look really cool, but aren't really that different from what's already offered on PS3/360 and Gamecube lol.

You are much better to talk to then the other people here which defend PS3 way too fast.

Wow.... never would I get this if I said Gears of War looked stupid and I'm not excited for it because it's being made by the makers of BulletStorm....

Guess it's just stupid not to blindly love anything PS3, even WonderBook.
