Forums - Gaming - If Nintendo demo'd the execution of Reggie at E3, would Microsoft off Ballmer within a year?

wait what???? MS business is mostly R&D beside changing a skin every 5 years tweaking office they have nothing else to do than R&D..... they employ some of the brightest mind in the software development world and hardware integration.....no I don't know the size of the game division but a company like MS doesn't work by division only.... but more by project and interation of project between the different sector they have.... the XB playing video games waas just an excuse for MS to get in the people's living room before the family desktop completely dies out..... without saying that you do realise MS has their own campus on top of their elite selected employees..... if you want a pissing contest MS is a watter canon to turn off oil rig fires and nintendo is a garden hose.... even if it's the best garden hose in the world it is no match to a water canon

So microsoft should be getting us to Mars and inventing the time machine too, right? Let's bring it back to the real world- name something that microsoft developed from the ground-up through in-house r&d, which was radically different, unique and better than what competitors were making? Just name something....

i think xbox live might be a possibility, can you think of anything else? kinect was developed by another company, then purchased by microsoft, so i don't think that counts as in-house r&d....

Don't you know??!! They invented the blue screen of death, and of course, in the gaming industry, how can we nowadays go without a ...-of-death?? MS's 360 gave us the RROD, and Sony, poor bastards, unable to help their plagiarism habit, offered us the YLOD. I'm shocked that you didn't know about this one.

Yellow is a much better color than red. It's not Sony's fault you can't appreciate innovation.

Watch this badge, Nintendo will come up with the (Edit: Power) GLOD. You're console comes packaged as a brick. Nintendo only takes what others do and does it better! Off course they'll go with the LED and not the Ring because after all these years it's about time they gave Sony a little kick in the ass. After all, MS copied with the Kinect, which isn't as bad as the Move!

He he.. nice picture.. But hey.. try to do the same with wavebird vs 360 controller.. (i think it's MS who copiet..:) )

If your are to young to remember..

The wavebird was nintendo's wireless 2 analog stick controller for the Gamecube.

blue screen of death 90% of the time driver related to third party development....what microsoft invented the possibility to make a solely software based product commercially viable... beside that you'll explain me how many games now a days run without direct X.... yeah you have open GL but please give me a break.... kinect hasn't been bougth by MS for 300thousand time they bought the right of the #D tracking system which barely a 10th of the R&D MS did on the product..... heck 3d sound location was 10 times harder to pull out....

most phones prior blackberry and RIm where windows phones when it comes to professional grade telecommunication equipment...... come on hate as much as you want..... from the aero space to the automobile industry to the industrial and coporate office to your house to almost anything running software you have a 50% chance it is one way or the other related to MS.... heck even your tomahawk missle run windows CE....

All I can say is, if you haven't started to do so already, start doing the missions given to you buy the guy in front of the castle and then the guy that gives you your assignments from the Duke.  Almost every single one of those is so epic and unique that the quests I've been doing up to that point (escort this guy, retrieve this item, kill this creature) seems like they are from two different games!  They start off with one objective and then morph into something else.

Do you mean the Wyrm Hunt quests, or ones you get after meeting the Duke? I only just started doing the Wyrm Hunt. So far I've only done that stupid quest where you have a tablet that doesn't mean anything but you have to talk to four people to find that out, and the one where you take the keep back from the goblins. That one turned out to be surprisingly intense after I got to the top of the fort and a cyclops knocked two of my pawns off and killed them. So I scuttled all the way back down to revive my pawns only to find out that they had landed on the other side of a locked door! Back up I went but I couldn't find any other way down, so with my pawns about to be sent back to the rift, I jumped... and survived with 1 HP. Then I revived them, stormed the castle again, killed the cyclops, and the motherfucker dropped two eyes! Was he keeping a spare or something?

Then me and Mason were going to crash some party in the catacombs, but I had to go to stupid work.

That's them.  All of the Wyrm Hunt quest and all of the ones given by the Duke's right hand man are like that.  Way more intense and interesting and not at all what I expected.  It's like playing Grand Theft Auto and doing nothing but driving a taxi, killing people, and going to the strip club and then suddenly finding out that there were story based missions!

I guess this may not be the best thread to be discussing this, though.  If only there were some sort of Dragon's Dogma thread........

I'm just wondering, did anyone in here ever own any of these cd-cased attachements or systems back in the day (or now)? I remember playing turbografx at my friends house, and another friend had the saturn. But honestly, not many people owned these early cd-attachements or systems, they seemed pretty rare back then.

Beats me, I never owned any of them! (despite owning an Atari Jaguar)

I have two Sega CD games (or maybe their Saturn games) in my closet but I've never owned either of those systms!

R3?
