over 67 million shipped and vgchartz has it at 66.8 million, if it was 67.5million they probably would have said so, so at worse we have 700k on shelve that's far from the 1.9million which was calculate a while back on the site wtf happened did I missed an adjustment

ffs... we have this every time some belated story comes out... they always use the last reported shipment number.

this is no different... these are the end of March shipment numbers.

The over 67 is 67.2 as reported in March in the MS financials.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=129135

dgypw... it's not my fault if the article omite key information like the date for the shipment data and that the 47% is for US only and just for this year

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

47% of market share??? I guess that NPD just in this year lol

67 million X360 is in line with VGC numbers...

19 million Kinects seems like VGC is undertracking a little Kinect Adventures!.

yeah just "a little" by about 1.5m

Isn't that less than 10%?

So are you saying an error of 10% is acceptable?

So if say the PS3 was undertracked by 6m that would be acceptable?

Dont play with me... this data is obviously end of March data, we had kinect at 16.08m.. with 19.00m shipped thats a pretty serious undertrack.

That's always been the general margin of error. Obviously it's still a lot of units, but in terms of overall accuracy, it's not far off.

Last Shipments (until 31 MArch) were at 67.2M

I dont think 10% is acceptable when shipment data is released on a quarterly basis allowing for corrections, on top of that we get NPD and media create numbers released regularly as a check and balance.... 5% I can handle... 10% is too much.

Now, I'm not saying corrections don't need to be made, but rather the range isn't bad. I would comfortably with the overall tracking methods as it only needs a few small adjustments to be perfect.

what is with kinect for windows? it is kinect as well but not for xbox and without kinect adventures. no clue how much they sold of that but this is one part of the 19 million sold kinects.

Thats a good point actually... but I read somewhere recently that they have sold very few of those.  They are quite expensive too, £199.99 in the UK compared to a standard Kinect for around £100.00

Wouldn't be surprised that they shipped atleast a million of them though.

Yes, the point is this, 10% can be an error margin still acceptable for unadjusted weekly data, but both weekly and total adjustments and the fact that if the error is random, not biased and/or systematic, there should be errors both conservative and in excess, at least partially compensting each other, the acceptable error on the total should be much lower. ±5% is the commonly accepted error margin for polls and other statistics made from random samples.
Anyway, outside of USA, and UK, where currently it is enjoying the highest weekly attach rate, Kinect sales aren't very good, so, adding Kinect for Windows too, real sales could be still undertracked by VGC, but by less than the most pessimistic estimates.
