Forums - PC - Intel under antitrust investigation

New York Attorney General Andrew M Cuomo has opened an investigation into alleged monopolistic practices by Intel.  Apparently there have been complaints that Intel has used it's status and influence as the World's largest chipmaker to prevent some of it's customers from dealing with AMD.

Intel have been doing these things for years, they've been under heaps of antitrust investigations. But just like Microsoft, they will never get punished for it because they just have too much money and too much power.

if you can read this..... give me my account back dammit!!!!

From 2001.
But its like omgwtfbbq2 said, when your that powerfull, you can get away with a hell of a lot.

Interesting. I like AMD chips actually, but yeah, that's a nasty way to do business.

i prefer AMD, this doesn't surprise me. Powerful multi-national corporations haven't got where they are by playing by the rules.

Wait... you guys realize that they have been tried before on this and slipped through the cracks. AMD has had them in court for over 3 years on this as well. In Japan they got raided and are currently in court due to these practices. In Europe they have been taken to court over this. In korea they are currently in court over this...

This is not news. It's been going on for a very long time.

I find it funny that the major tech sites have turned their back on AMD.  AMD offers us a choice, without that choice we would be forced into doing whatever Intel wanted (cpu wise) which would be horrible for us.  If it wasn't for AMD we'd all be running 300 watt Itanic CPU's running at 800MHZ (offering us half the speed of a P3 doing the same tasks).  AMD forced Intel into going X86-64.

Also as someone who builds systems for friends, I really don't see the advantage of going with Intel CPU's.  The reviews often state that the Intel CPU is the faster one, yet they fail to tell you that you'll pay a premium over AMD's equivilantly clocked cpu and that the AMD CPU which is priced the same as the Intel one is actually a tad bit faster.  That's the end of my rant....

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.
