I doubt Sony will allow that unless Sony don't plan on releasing a PS4. In which case, our bet is cancelled, of course. |
Hold on a second, that bet is still on????

I'll try it when I get to a PC. I'm on my PS3's browser right now. You think it'll work on my PS3's browser? |
not sure about gaikai but onlive can be used on many tablets and phones too
@mantlepick- i'm mainly a single player gamer, but when i played with it the lag was not too noticable too me and i was looking for it. Is it worse with MP games? Diablo 3 and WoW had lag for me, so does any shooter i play where someone has host advantage. So unless it is being compared to local multiplayer i think it will stand up ok.
If Sony is buying this company, what would it do to the agreement Gaikai has with TV market leader (and segment rival) LG?
Also, I wonder if MCV is taking info and running with it -- turning speculation into news. (It has not clarified./updated its story that WiiU won't support UE4 based upon Geoff Keighley's Twitter comments which he clarified were being misinterpreted and which Epic said there has been no official announcement/decision on platforms for UE4 outside of PC).

it doesn't work. :( Sony needs to update the PS3's browser. |
Bummer man! Well we'd probably have heard about it if it did work. PC games on your PS3, right?

Streaming games would be amazing solely for the fact that they could allow us to play our games before they are even fully downloaded. I could play a demo as it is downloading so that I don't have to wait and then play. Also, it will free up space on my hard drvie. I just hope that Sony gives us the option to stream or download everything. Sorry if my post is disjointed, this is one of the few things that I am extremely hyped for and I'm so excited that I can't think straight.

The more i thin about it perhaps they just want to buy them to get some of the revenue that they will get from being on tv's. Don't lg and samsung have tvs with onlive/gaikai ability built in? Maybe its how they finally plan to make money off of tvs

But these large manufacturers can just set up their own streaming services and I fully expect them to... MS has the biggest cloud presence and they coud surely turn this functionality on in no time couldnt they? Samsung is about to launch their itunes music alternative I believe, they wont stop there. |
MS does have a good cloud service. I recently read that they are doing a cloud service for india's college campuses and students. Gaikai and onlive though have struck deals with pubs/devs/ip holders to allow them to stream their games. I am not so sure pubs and devs would want to do the same for lg/samsung/etc. Kind of like netflix i would think. Just a thought.

Indeed. It looks inevitable that cloud will be the future of this medium.

Cloud gaming could be nice ... in 50 years when the Internet technics are ready for low latency and high bandwidth.
But in the near future cloud gaming is shit, even if you have the best internet connection available.
Sony does it again. Again they burned a lot of money with this deal and Sony will be bankrupt in two years from now.
