Forums - Nintendo - IF Nintendo does not impress at E3 this year will Nintendo fail in the West? Change of opinion now?

Nintendo has the resources to fix anything it deems as needing fixed.
I gets the feeling that a lot of things have been "on hold" waiting for e3.

And one thing lost in hardware numbers -- how many PS 3 and Xbox 360 units are replacements. In other words, are new sales generating new users? From software sales, that is a real question.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Oh no, not again.....

E3 doesn't reach that many people.. it's not like an Apple show where every fart is an item in mainstream media so no..

I wasn't expecting a Nintendo's doomed thread from you spurge.

Anyway, 3DS sales haven't been amazing in the west, that's true, but they aren't bad either. It's just that we were used to the monster numbers of the DS. And yes, they sell more in Japan but that's because they have more/better games because those games are made by Japanese developers/Co. so it's normal that they get launched there first. Once western developers start launching their games, its sales will get better.

Also remember that each unit sold makes Nintendo to loose money... maybe they are holding the big games after August when they expect to start making as profit from each unit sold! (it's a joke, don't take it seriously)

Their short term failure or success will be decided on the WiiU. Next E3 they need to focus on it. We know that 3DS will have western developers, but it's very important for them to show the us, the western audience, that they also have that support for the WiiU.

It is am impossibility that Nintendo will not impress at E3 this year. They will, trust me. They even have a second live broadcast on Wednesday because there's too much software to fit into the press conference on Tuesday

So you are all saying that Nintendo could have a horrible showing at E3 and it would not matter at all?

It matters to stock holders.
It matters to the Core gamer, who will be first on site if it can bring any wanted games to the launch.
Nintendo is already on the Bottom pretty much in the West. The U.K could care less, and America is right behind the U.K. Has no one taken a peek at sales or the Pre-order chart on this site in months?

A great showing at E3 could mean a lot for Nintendo, especially after we have been waiting for two years for them to finally come through with something other than the occasional piece of underwhelming information here and there, and a game or two.
Make E3 your make or break for Nintendo or something else, but if they do not pull a rabbit out of their Hat with the Wii U, then they are going to have a tough time in the near future. Especially when they basically, straight up refuse to bring Nintendo gamers in the West any games. We had Kid Icarus a month ago that was not too big of a hit, and we just got what basically amounts to a sports game. Mario Tennis is good, but not good enough to get anyone interested.

They faced similiar poor performace during the last year of the GameCube before Wii launched.  I think the only game they had that year as Odama lol.  The cycle starts up again when Wii U launches and then all the big first party games will chart and the growth will occur again.  I'm not worried one bit.

So.. what were the impressing moments from the last 5 E3s from Nintendo? The ones that pleased millions and millions of gamers .

They can have the best show ever and people will still complain because they decided long ago that Nintendo sucks now.
