Windows phone- down from 2.6% to 2.2% marketshare
Blackberry OS - went down from 13.6% to 6.4%

Android went up from 36.1% to 59%
Apple IOS went up from 18.3% to 23%.

I really want to see RIM pick up again with the BB10

lol RIM is so fudged. Their whole business model is dead. The company needs to restructure and change focus.

Personally.BB10 is a dead end. I.would have green lit BB11 awhile ago. Two models the economy class model and business class model. Screw 5-6 models each year like the past. Dropping the keyboard from the economy class and on the business class not include an actual keyboard instead use a textile textured screen with vibrations and such to make a virtual keyboard that feels as close to the genuine article as possible. Voice command a powerful processor. The hardware for the business version needs to be top notch 32 gig internal memory. NFC among every other major piece of phone tech. Add a small motion control camera maybe get the license for the touch pad on the back like Vita. A luxury phone for 799 MSRP but only 149.99$ with three year contract. On top of hardware BB spends a year developing some new software, drop all Dev kit costs and slash royalties for developers that make apps and software for launch of the new phone.

The cheaper economy model would lack the texture screen and most of the major features. Have a 8 gig internal memory a decent processor a low end touch screen. Make the phone on the cheap, if they need to buy DataWind use their tech to make a budget phone. MSRP of 149.99$ or free with three year contract.

RIM would then license out BBM and other core software features but charge pretty solid royalties. Offer BlackBerry apps on other phones.

Improving BlackBerry mail services to make them more secure and professional.

Using the luxury model to target the business demo that has been RIM's core demo for a long time. But the new economy class to target emerging markets and low income households. RIM could pen deals with other countries to subsidize their phones for the public.

Unfortunately I doubt board members would be willing to allow this shift. Also doubt share holders would just sit by and spend the needed money to create this super phone.

Of course RIM would be smart to invest in another product line too. Something new Google's got Project Glass, Apple has Siri and Microsoft had Kinect. Nintendo introduced motion controls. When your company is struggling you need to take a couple risks and make something new!

It should probably be noted that windows phone sold more even though it's marketshare dropped, but that is bc smartphone market is growing rapidly.  In short winPho is getting a smalle slice of the pie every time the numbers come out.  This won't be great for bing or IE either.

I thought they were only releasing 2 versions of the phone. One with the keyboard and one without. 

Either way, once they license out BBM and other natives apps, it's all downhill for them. 

Wow, even Linux is above Windows. This is basically becoming a race like that of computers, one company dominates SW while Apple is happy with a large minority of SW/HW.

Those are really bad numbers for RIM, especially since Android and iOS look great, I really don't know what to think about WP7 :/

Nothing is stopping Android. Very impressive.
