Seems like your solution is to release every game of any significance into an already overcrowded holiday season.

Can't entirely disagree with some of these, Eight Days looked to be one of the more interesting games this gen so that being canned sucks.
GT5 just came out way too late for the game that it launched as.
Killzone... Never been fond of that franchise even though I own 1 & 2, but I wouldn't say Guerilla has done bad in financial terms for how long they spent on the game.
Don't agree with SSM though, they have a pretty good turaround for the time they spend on projects.
Team ICO... I'm sure TLG will be a great game, but it should have been out by now, simple.
Naughty Dog, don't like Uncharted but this dev house hasn't put a step wrong in terms of productivity and creating financially succesful blockbusters.
You basically took shit that everyone already knew about, exaggerated it, and compiled it all into one thread.
This was quite funny. I think you should go back and view some posts and topics around the tiimes you are saying everything flopped. (Seriously, Killzone 2 and Uncharted 1 exceeded pretty much everyone's expectations as nearly all thought KZ2 was going to suck)
EDIT: It's even funnier that you have so much misinformation and blantant wrong facts about each studios game production and participation in different titles.

Uncharted 1 was considered a huge Flop until U2 came out and generated tons of buzz. People went back and bought Uncharted 1.
It wouldnt be close to its current sales if U2 didnt improve so much and get so much GOTY awards.

You dont think it was a big deal that LBP2 missed a holiday release? Its acceptable for a studio to release only one PSN game in SIX YEARS? Releasing major games on PS2 well after the PS3 was in stores and had no games?
Come on man.... it's terrible management. There is no excuse for any of that stuff. |
Sony has to cooperate with their studios.
they cant just tell them "hey, this game needs to be made by this time and it will be released whether finished or not!"
the best way is to let the studios make their game so they can make the best experience they can at that time. This doesn't work everytime but if they deadlined every game then basically all the exclusives would be half assed
you have to blame Polyphony Digital for GT5 not releasing earlier. its not like Sony was saying "no, we are not releasing it this year, Yoshinori. lets wait next year for the hell of it >=)"
you can bet that Kitase told Sony that GT5 wasn't ready yet and the main guys at Sony were probably like "ahh damn, we're never going to here the end of this 1 from the fans"
blame the devs for that instead of Sony unless you want Sony to deadline each game equaling half-assed experiences

Agree with not giving Killzone holiday space, same with LBP2.
Time for hype

That's a complete lie. Uncharted 2 was released in October of 2009 and the first Uncharted had already sold over 2.5 million at that point. After that it sold well based off Uncharted 2 and bundling (but bundling was the primary boost). So, the majority of sales were already achieved by the time Uncharted 2 had released and the bundle was bigger factor to its great legs.
I don't know about all of that, but I do know that Sony is absolutely terrible at advertising their games and products. I don't think I've seen anything for Twisted Metal or Starhawk, nor do I remember much for bigger games like Uncharted 2, GOW 3, and Gran Turismo 5 (Let alone their biggest release in years, the Vita). Even when they do put a lot into marketing a game (Uncharted 3) I don't think it is done very well (those subway commercials...).
