No such thing as peaceful coexistence, eh?

These types of technologies will never 'kill' a market like console gaming. They'll be an alternative. Just like iTunes didn't kill CDs, or even vinyl. There's a market for all those things. Some will shrink and expand over time, but it will be several decades before anything resembling 'death' to consoles is possible.

Gaming consoles won't be around FOREVER? And here I thought that would be the one static thing that never changes for humanity. :(

What will I do in a thousand years without my gaming consoles?

I can't wait until they are just built into our TV sets.

Not at the rate American broadband companies are going.

Some areas of this country may never see high speed internet.

"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot, stamping on a human face. Forever."

Somehow this article reminds me of this sentence. I'm sorry, but the more people depend on infrastructure, the easier is to control them. Nvidia's dream isn't of having fast internet connection to improve people's lives as it is to force them to keep paying for content. Soon enough we'll wish for something as sweet as Ubisoft's online check for single player and EA milking their franchises.

Eventually,

we're gonna get to the point where we dont need consoles for AAA experiences anymore, because we'll just call it up like we can for ON DEMAND TV.

But that day is over 10 years away, and even Nvidia may not be in business or doing the same thing anymore.

But for now I suspect that this is more of Nvidia's sloppy tears because they are being totally LOCKED OUT from NEXT GENERATIONS consoles.

Nvidia should shut up and take it like a man.

lol

I hope not. Without Consoles there is no Nintendo.

It isn't power that is the issue here. What needs to be looked at what Apple did. The technology needs to be easy enough to use, and capitalize on the lazy streak. And it needs to be available. If the right partnership comes along, and cable companies find a way to make money off bandwidth being used, then look for streaming to be the future for stuff. You also need the content. All the pieces of an ecosystem for gaming needs to be in place before anything takes off. Miss one, and you won't get a change.

Again, it isn't about power, it is about convenience and also content.
