Well, there´s a rumor around the web I believe... but yeah, I doubt it too

it all depends on where nintendo wants to put their money.  the tablet is going to be more expensive than a standard controller.  not sure how much but lets just say $20-30 bucks more.  MSony is very likey, imo, to lauch at $400 dollar or more.  if nintendo targets $300 or $350 then that is another $50 to $100 dollars more that isn't going to hardware specs.  $70 to $130 dollars more is quite a big jump in hardware specs MSony is likey to have, imo.

...and that's not accounting for the likey case that MSony will probably be selling at a loss at launch, something nintendo is not likely to do.

i'd ignore the rumors.  think about the core values of these companies.  superchunk can talk all he wants about "..after the ps3" but you and i both saw the vita.  they obviously haven't changed their stategy/values there so why should i believe they'll change for the ps4?!?

We can't account for suicidal corporations. As the Bankruptcy fairy flutters around Sony's shoulders, who knows what goes through their minds?

my only problem with that statement is quite frankly, the key decisions made were probably made 1-3 years ago.

Wow the image is so big it doesn't even fit on my monitor.

Baby Jesus Christ!

Where is the tipping point between performance and value?
At some point, it wil cost too much to make the machines and/or the games.
Of course these shots look good . But at what price?
How many people want to spend $500 for a console?
That was the price I have most commonly seen herein for the graphics card needed to run the engine.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Is it fair to say I'm not impressed?

Then its fair to say you don't know what your looking at.

There has never in the history of video games been a game released that looks as good as this.  Click the expanded picture.

So if your not impressed with that then I guess it is physically impossible to impress you.

Wherever Epic can convince hardware makers to go, in order to make more money on engines for Epic.

With luck, Sony and Microsoft will tell Epic to take a long walk off a short pier. And if they don't, at least the next gaming crash will be a feast for the eyes!

You guys are over reacting, there will be no great gaming crash.

Next gen will be perfectly fine, even with $500 machines, the only reason gaming sales are even down is because the generation is dying.

Now casuals will probably not be back on board next gen so we may see a slight dip in overall sales next gen but that will most likely be reflected with Wii U sales and shouldn't really affect MS and Sony.

True, but you figured Sony would have toned it down by now either way. The Vita i can get because although the PSP didn't quite do what Sony wanted it to, it did prove to be a viable enough counter-Nintendo strategy, but one wonders if Sony can really afford to go through the kind of financial damage they went through with the early PS3 (which wiped out profits from the PS2 era all told) at this point. Stronger corrections needed to be made, and if they're pitching a $500 console at a loss this time around, frankly they'll deserve what they get.

It wasn't because of PS3 horsepower that wiped out Sony's profits. If that was the case, MS would have had similar if not more losses at the beginning of the gen.

It was because of the blu-ray that Sony lost money, and that can easily be rectified this gen.

Microsoft had horrendous losses at the beginning of the generation as well. Different symptoms, but the same disease.
