Forums - General - What's so great about Apple products?

I don't remember what they cost but I'm pretty sure they were priced similarly to the iPod line ($200-300 price points).

Man, a friend of mine from work pulled out a Zune that he had gotten from a friend when he was serving in Iraq. The thing had a billion songs on it and some episodes of Family Guy. I opened my big mouth and said I knew how to put movies on it. He's been on me ever since to do this. I've brought the Zune home with me a few times, acting like I couldn't figure it out. I brought it home again last Wednesday but I didn't try to figure the thing out until Monday.

Long story short, the Zune is awesome and I want one. This thing plays everything from my HDD--even converts the automatically. I was blind. So blind.

The original Zune was mediocre. Later versions started to kick ass.

The Zune's biggest failing was that Microsoft, as usual with them over the past 10+ years, was late to the party. The market had been decided and the Zune wasn't *better* enough to garner attention. Add in the fact that the Zune Store sucked ass with its strangling DRM, lack of content, and overall mediocrity that there was no reason for the public to really pay attention to the device. By the time MS got things sorted on the device, the iPhone market was closing the door on the standalone portable music market and completely shifting the customer paradigm with the launch of the App Store.

Which is why MS took the one outstanding feature of the Zune, its user interface, and put it on Windows Phone. But, again, Microsoft is running into a wall because they were two years late to the smartphone party with WP7.

I really wish they would get their shit together.

How much did they cost initially?  I just checked Amazon and I can't find one for less than $450!  I hoped it would be cheap since it's basically a dead product.  No such luck.

I've got a Zune HD....   can't remember if its a 16GB or a 32GB...    I no longer use it...

The one he owns doesn't look to be HD but it does have 120GB of memory.  I don't see any way to upgrad the memory on this one, either.  Can you do that on yours?  If so, I may be in the market to buy it from you.

They work, they are fast, they are content rich, they are cool, and they are usually better then anything else in the same market.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

he has the older one, this is the one I have....

seriously doubt you can increase memory though...

I still have his.  Won't be giving it back until tonight.  I get a seven day break every month and it ended yesterday.  Back to work, today.  And man, that Zune you posted actually looks pretty sexy!  His looks like a cell phone sized brick.  That one is MUCH better.  I'll do some research and see if I can find that one at a decent price on Amazon.com unless you somehow want to part with yours.  I have no idea how I'd buy it from you--ebay or something--but I do want a Zune.....at a reasonable price, of course.

I agree, never saw the big draw to MACs personally I hated them when we had them in school. Never liked Iphones, my droid razr kicks ass. Apple products are like COD in that they release new models constantly that are almost the same as the  previous model and Apples sell so well not becuase they are superior products but because they are a fad. Unlike COD thought Apple products have more quality and Apple cares about their customer.

I don't remember the exact price I bought mine at, but I remember bragging to an Apple fanboy about how my 64GB cost $50 less than his 32GB ipod. So whatever the ipod touch 32GB is minus $50.

I really do miss that thing :(

The Mac had superior graphics capabilities for many years. Thus, it earned a following among people who worked in art and design industries (including newspapers and television production). It was also years ahead of PCs with an easy-to-use, plug-and-play architecture. That is why those who came to Macs early tend not to go back, even though almost every PC deficiency has been overcome.

Similarly, Apple delivered the best MP3 playing experience via the iPod and had an integrated, successful music store through iTunes. The iPhone set an early standard as well, though Samsung's Galaxy series is probably a better unit but the Galaxy is still lacking in the quality of its store experience (Google Play seems to be the third incarnation in a bit over a year of what started as the Android Store). Plus Apple demands uniformity from its carriers while the Android universe does not ... so in one case you know what you are getting while in the other you are not so sure.

I have an iPad (from work) and I love it for some things. But I hate that Apple products do not recognize Flash (which still makes up more of the Internet than anyone in Cupertino is willing to admit) and that its PC products seem to need to update themselves monthly.

by the way the one I have is a 32GB model, just checked.

Checking eBay, I was overwhelmed.  Don't know which one to go with but they do have an auction going on for the exact one my friend has.  Currently it's about $27!  I'm gonna do a bit of research on it and decide which one I want and how I want to go about getting it.  HD with less memory for a higher price or standard with high memory for a low price.  I just can't decide!

apple = status symbol

their products are for the superior elite. such as ultra sexy girls and well suited boys with infinite money.

android (users) = resistance movement (bullheads, terrorists...)

their products are for the underclass. such as real nerds, poor students, wannabe hackers and just jealous haters like occupy poor street, anonymous, wikileaks etc.
