Forums - General - Your first experience on the internet

1991 before the World Wide Web. We had in our school, which connected us to archives of a news site. It was just text at the time. Then in 93 I got a Mac with a 14.4 modem and a dial up connection to AOL, through that I was able to download my first dirty pic on the net which took about 30min for a low res image. Oh and there were no preview pics at the time. Printed it out in black and white and went straight to my bedroom. Joy!

Around the Network

I'd seen a porn video and at the beginning, it said something like www.amazingsex.com. I was at work and that website had stuck in my head years after I had seen it. I clicked on it for about two seconds. The screen filled up with pop-ups of different sex things. I clicked off. After that, dirty pop-ups happened randomly all of the time. And, of course, they found out that I was the one looking at porn.

That reminds me of my first dirty picture... it was at a library (ugh), someone had left a porn site open with a picture, and there was a printer next to the computer with amazingly 25 cents in it, so I handily pressed that *print* button.

Yeah... good old days.

Okay, four things I gotta say. First of all, noob, you address me as Mr. Sir. Got it? Second of all, noob, don't speak to me unless I speak to you first. And last of all, noob, don't question my ability to read numbers.

Now, since you're a noob, you're probably having a rough time at this game called life. But don't worry. If you're willing to do as I say, work hard, and believe in yourself, I'll turn you into a Level 75 with ease. You'll be prestiging in no time. Imma teach you how to get proper gear, show you where the cool weapons at, teach you shooting & melee combat, driving skills, all that good stuff. But first, you gotta pick a class if you wanna survive in Detroit. Available classes: Rapper, drug-dealer, Gang-banger, athlete, hobo, & lemonade stand manager.

Choose your class wisely & I'll teach you all you need to know to rule over this area.

Nerd.

I would never been in Detroit.

Yup. They sure were.

It was the start of 1996 I believe. I remember signing up for an internet connection without really knowing the whole deal about it (I saw email addresses in books and such. That was about it). My original plan was $5 per hour, and it was using a 9600 baud connection.

The first thing I did was go to Nintendo's site, then Square's, and then I was checking out Final Fantasy fansites. I ended up stumbling across a full Final Fantasy game written entirely in Microsoft QuickBASIC and I was blown away.

I don't remember.  I pretty much did not know I was on the Internet.  I just learned that if you click on the blue "E", awesomeness magically appears.

I'm so dissappointed in Gilgamesh.. He could have made the best spam thread in a while called "Your first experience" then he has to add "on the Internet" instead of "with sex" "with a girl" "with a guy" "with badgenomes mother" no wonder people complain that the site is going downhill...
