Can't decide if you sound more upset about the Blu-Ray threads or the temerity of 'newbies' for starting them...

Umm... thats cause it isn't great. Theres no good news at all about HD DVD. Blu Ray has more corporate support and it outelling HD DVD like theres no tomorrow!

Well, some of the new marketing techniques are to go to forums and talk about products instead of paying for banners.

I'm not saying that those guys are in some kind of conspiracy but, if you're wondering if there are people that is actually being paid by companies to go to forums and talk about their products, post screenshots or videos the answer is yes.

I just find it annoying and usually I skip over those types of posts.

It is common for posters on a forum to create accounts in order to troll ... A Sony fan (as an example) may end up creating a new account to gloat over the announcements that benefit Blu-Ray in order to not destroy the reputation of his/her main account.

At the same time, often new posters are a little more "edgy" because they have nothing to lose by being dinks ...

To be completely honest some of the posts i've seen floating around the web about blue ray and hd dvd sounds like they're reading from a script. It's not the same reaction people would get from like a new game being announced, that whole format war is kinda boring and dull to me.
