Yes it is fact.

We are destroying the ozone layer therefore we have COLDER WINTERS and Warmer SUMMER.

Actually leo, it's not quite as simple as that. My area of expertise is quaternary geography and in most of my research while I was in school showed that while many places are experiencing what you are saying, others are experiencing the opposite, or other combinations. Some areas are actually becoming cooler as a result of this phenomenon. As ice melts it adds large amounts of cold water into our ocean currents. Take the Labrador Current for example. It has become both cooler and saltier recently and as a result greatly affected many local climates adjacent to it.

I am studying to be a meteorologist, I know what global warming is, I just didnt expect for you people to understand.

Usually when it snows in a place its never snowed before, they say "global warming! watit.."

Lets not discuss. As we just had a thread that proved that there's no reason for discussion. Those that believe in Global warming don't really have much to discuss, and those that don't believe it yet despite all the evidence obviously never will no matter what.

So a thread like this is kind of pointless.

O.o You should go watch An Inconvenient Truth. It might be enlightening. Anyways knowledge is power so the more we discuss it, the better we are off. That's is why older people are left behind. The younger generation is much more inclined to accept new information. Global warming is not a theory as some big coporations want you to think. It is very, very scary.

It doesn't matter if Global Warming exists or not...

Morons argue that we don't have enough data... well go to LA!!!

See the smog clouds hanging over the city, and tell me breathing in that crap is healthy.

The American government is so corrupted by big company lobbyist its disgusting. They should force car companies to make more efficient cars... how long did it take to make seat belts mandatory? how long did it take to admit cigarettes are bad? how long will it take for people to wake up and tell the government "no more!"

This crap makes me angry, and call me an ass, but I hope that the big three all go bankrupt...

You do realize that Smog has absolutely nothing to do with Global Warming, right? In fact, the focus on Global Warming takes a ton of attention away from important environmental concerns which we can have a huge impact on.

It's not about arguing that it's getting hotter, it seems to me just about everyone here agrees that there is a steady climate shift. The arguement is more about it's cause. I don't think that emessions is the ipso facto reason for global warming. A contributor maybe but this cycle seems to repeat itself every so often with or without our influence /done

I think you mistook my meaning. Of course I know it's real. But a thread yesterday displayed that those who don't believe it yet aren't doing it because it just hasn't been explained to them the right way. They don't believe it because they refuse to. For some reason they view it to be a political issue instead of an environmental and humanitarian one.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Global warming is almost indisputably fact. But even if you can't prove it is happening, wouldn't it still be good to cut back on the pollution? That is a health concern. Plus, even if it isn't true, better safe than sorry would be a good philosophy to follow.

I) It isn't our fault
B) We do need to clean up our act
3) A killer asteroid is coming!

It doesn't matter either way. Honestly the only way we will stop producing CO2 is when either A) oil gets too expensive to be viable ($300/bbl maybe $400?) or B) coal gets too expensive (but remember, MOST of coal's cost comes from transporting it by train, which runs on diesel, so who knows how expensive it will get when oil hits the fan)

It's irrelevant, we're going to run out of fossil fuels to burn long before doomsday global warming ever has a chance to occur.
