Forums - Microsoft - Could Microsoft make a Crossover Fighter

It would be the worst idea, ever. I wouldn't mind a Gears of War (Epic IP) crossover with Halo or something where two or more similarly themed franchises came together but something on the scale of Nintendo's Smash Bros. just shouldn't be done. Nintendo's characters seem to be able to coexist together--remember the old cartoon "Captain N". Microsoft's characters just don't seem to have that. Maybe a bunch of Rare characters or a bunch of Twisted Pixel characters, but a company wide crossover? Hell no.

If Fat Princess and Ice Climbers are good enough to make a roster, sure as crap MS has 20-30 characters to stick in a Smash Bros rip off.

There's no reason to though, Sony can't reinvigorate the PS3 business, for years it was "wait for god of war 3" or "wait for gt5" then they came and went and the PS3 was still not saved, so sony had to dive deeper back and start resurrecting sly cooper and twisted metal, they won't/haven't worked either. I wouldn't be shocking to see them go back even further in search of IP's like Rosco McQueen or Captain Blasto to try to regrab some of that former glory from a decade ago.

That's all All Stars is, if you can't make new IP's to sell your console, stick them all in one game. Surely that'll be huge right?

Microsoft barely has the any characters synonymous with them and famous enough to do it. Gears and Halo are the most famous characters built on the Xbox. The Fable character is so generic can anyone even remember his name? Microsoft should give full credit for a game like that Solely to Rare who have been making great characters since the NES era and call it Rare Champions or something. Microsoft themselves aren't at that level yet.

Still waiting for a remake or a sequel to Legend of Dragoon.

A lot of people are. Sony knows this as well.

Fat princess was the highest selling game on PSN at one point. This is why Sony decided to put them in. Fat Princess isn't exactly a push over downloadable.

for me the sony characters aren't more famous than the microsoft characters. for me, master chief, joanna dark, banjo, conker, splosion man, kameo and so on are as famous as sly, kratos, drake, jak and ratchet.

i only played god of war and uncharted but i played all games with characters i mentioned from microsoft. you don't know them as good because you didn't play those games but you can say that even to a new character like drake. just ask people owning an xbox or wii but not surfing in forums like this after drake. they won't have a clue who that is.

a good friend of mine had the playstation and playstation 2 but bought the 360 then. he doesn't surf in interent forums like this. i could bet with you even when he plays videogames some hours every day (he is a little bit addicted) that he has no clue who drake is.

more people know the playstation characters because more had a playstation but for the n64 and xbox owners the microsoft/rare characters are as famous as the playstation characters for playstation owners. i would say only nintendos characters are famous on the whole planet, even for people who did never have a nintendo console. but just because they aren't as famous doesn't meant that the game couldn't be successful. if the sony game will sell like 5 million copies the 360 one could sell like 2.5 million or so which would be good. i have no clue how much the playstation game will sell but i think it will be very successful. maybe i'm totally wrong but this forum alone shows how much is going on since the announcement. more posts in one thread than halo, god of war and some other have together.

i mean, it's not only about the own charactes you need characters from other companies as well and there, nobody will  have a better collection if you do it right.

Don't hate on Fat Princess, it's a fun game. =)

Microsoft has enough characters to make a crossover fighter, but I don't think they should make one. Fighters are not exactly the games most Xbox-users play.

As for characters:

Master Chief and Arbiter from Halo
Splosion Man from Splosion Man
Azurik from Azurik: Rise of Perathia
Banjo and Kazooie from Banjo Kazooie
Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark
Conker from Conker's Bad Fur Day
Any main protagonist from Fable
The Gunstringer from The Gunstringer
Ilo and Milo from ilomilo
Vince from Voodoo Vince
Frank and the Maw from The Maw
One of the Agent characters from Crackdown
Blinx from Blinx
Any Mech from MechAssault
Kameo from Kameo
Any character from Fuzion Frenzy
A group of Toy Soldiers from Toy Soldiers
Inphyy and Myifee from Ninety-Nine Nights
Moonshade from Crimson Alliance
Arran from NightCaster
Ninja Fu Hiya from Kung Fu Chaos
Shu or whatever his name was from Blue Dragon
Mr. Pants from It's Mr. Pants
A character from lost Odyssey
I'm sure I'm missing something

Add to that a few characters not owned by Microsoft like Alan Wake and some dude from Gears of War and it's a decent roster. It's not like Sony doesn't use third party characters in their game, and even Nintendo did it.

I think you're agreeing with me but it still feels like I should be fighting against you.  And for the record, my character from Fable was a female and her name was Hot Pants McGee.

Im sure they could. More than enough characters and a history of copying, much like Sony.

elaborate

you wouldn't know because people dont care when a company copies unless its SONY

so here is a few

M$ copied PlayStation with its guide button. they took the Playstation home button and called it the Guide button

M$ used analog sticks which Nintendo did 1st

M$ made a camera which i believe the Dreamcast did 1st

stuff that ONLY Sony gets criticed for

huhh? am i stupid right now or was this microsofts idea?

yea i think you are just stupi.....

okay i want you to take a look at this picture

now i want you to ask yourself when the PSP released and when the 360 released

i also want you to ask yourself why you actually thought that the Home button was M$'s idea

maybe its because nobody cares when other compaies copy UNLESS ITS SONY!

;)

or maybe because i don't care if one company copies the other one? and because i don't really care about handhelds? ahhh too bad you couldn't think about this option, my..uh...your fault...

didn't know the psp has such a button and why i thought that this was microsofts idea? i didn't think it was their idea like "we were the first with the idea on a paper" because that's like with everything, anyone has this in his drawer since 1975 or so...but i thought they were the first to really implement it for a console/handheld from the big three.

or maybe because i dont care

this speaks volumes and is the point that i was saying when it comes to copying in this industry ESPECIALLY when the company is not Sony doing the copying :)

but whatever..

EDIT: oh and i added the bolded because ps3 fans dont search for that stuff. It is basically blasted in the media/reviews so it is hard not to know what Sony supposedly copied but its a different story when it comes to other companies. You didn't know that M$ copied Sony because nobody in the media talks about it for a fan like YOU to know about it

OMG.

Its a F**King button.

The length of development time that was between 360 and PSP shows noone copied anyone. Both ideas were on the table before either company saw the respective products.

Copying is PS1 with the controller, or Trophies for achievements. Or Brawl for Smash Bros.

Copying is when a company blatantly had no concesses to do it or include it but comes out with it after the world has already seen the other product.

Sixaxis would be another, or PS wands or Kinect.

These are copying not a friggin Home button on 2 systems that ad tose in the design 1 - 2 years before they came out.

LOL!!!!

of course there would be someone trying to justify Microsofts copying of the PS home button

i mean yea we all know that M$ made a new ip this gen that sold consoles((sarcasm))

Nintendo undoubtedly made a new ip this gen that sold consoles

LMAO!

EDIT: man there was so much goodness in this thread to reply to LOL but i was trying to refrain from posting in this thread again so i'll keep the replies short with just these two replies

and did i just read somebody say that Sony's characters AREN'T more famous than the M$ character's?!? OH MY GOD LMAOOOOOOO

 I CANT! I JUST CANT!!
