Forums - Microsoft - Could Microsoft make a Crossover Fighter

I'd say no. I'm not convinced by Sony's title at this point either. Technically they have enough characters - but would they mesh well? I don't think so and I'm not sure the characters in Sony's title will either.

Nintendo just has the more consistent stable and tone of games to make the meshing work IMHO.

I mean they could probably get a title together and make it sell okay with enough marketing plus leveraging of the fanbase - but the idea of Master Chief and the like in a brawler just seems off to me.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Why not. But aside from Master Chief, Avatars and 'Splosion Man, all the other characters will be pretty obscure, so it wouldn't sell.

Nintendo has the biggest selection of games characters to choose from, lightyears ahead of Son, who have a worthy selection, miles ahead of Microsoft, who merely have a handful of recognisable characters.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Microsoft could in theory make a cross over fighter, they have enough series' to create a large enough cast of fighters, however the big issue for me is the lack of diversity among that cast, for example, some people are saying use Master Chief, Marcus and the agent (crackdown) as main characters, these characters will have very similar play styles, their games are too similar, the reason why SSM and PSAS work well on paper is that their characters are from different genres and behave and play very differently, I don't believe that if Microsoft released their own cross over fighter, they would

i think you are right, nintendo is way ahead with his characters and sony would be maybe ahead a little bit as well but i think banjo&kazooie and two from blue dragon (the bad guy nene and one of the playable characters) would fit perfectly in the game. and kameo with the ability to transform in different beings would be one of the best characters even for a nintendo smash brothers. and you shouldn't forget conker.

banjo is a big name for nintendo owners, they just made shit with it this gen^^

No they shouldn't.

They don't have enough recognized characters. Even using the well known N64 Rare game characters which could still hold weight with Ninty fans of old like Jet Force Gemini, Banjo & Kazooie, Killer Instinct, Battletoads, Conker, Perfect Dark arguably Microsoft have the best known old characters by default from buying Rare.

Man Microsoft have wasted Rare licenses. A really good team building new Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, Banjo Kazooie 3, Killer Instinct, Battletoads, Conker. Man decent teams working on sequels to these games would murder Sonys lineup. I mean these were amazing titles for N64 that really kept that Console flowing. Rare owned that era as best dev by far.

If M$ actually played cards right they have francises that were loved that could destroy Sony.

Seriously now...how would these franchises "destroy Sony". They're all pretty small franchises

Respective of the times my friend.

The generations these came out they were easily regarded as the best games around. Certainly on N64 and Snes. These games would translate massively well with a decent team behind them. Nowadays consoles sell alot more than when these titles were held in high regard. PS1 didnt have an answer to pretty much any Rare N64 title. The fact that PS1 titles on an actual PS1 ( Not emulated or B/C ) are nigh on unplayable in framerate and jumping polygons. IT was Rare that gave N64 its sales along wit Nintendo. Literally.

Ok, it's true that Sony doesn't have a lot of recognised characters, but Ratchet/Jak/Sly/Kratos/Drake, etc are all famous enough to have their own brawl game.
I don't think Microsoft has enough known character. Yes, there are Master Chief, Marcus from Gears...and then?
This two are more famous than any other Sony's characters, but they're just two!

For their time, yes, they were powerful franchises. These days, I doubt they'd kill most current series', let alone "destroy Sony".  Besides, I wouldn't expect a "lover of all games" to even support such a notion

Maybe my nostalgia is getting the better of me. But the amount of Ninty gamers I know wo would die for a proper decent follow up to any N64 Rare game is alot. Most Ninty gamers would get a 360 for a decent Banjo Kazooie 3, or Killer Instinct 3, or Blast Corps 2 or Jet Force Gemini 2. As long as it holds true to the formula. Oh my a Conker Bad Fur Day 2 would be angelic in todays society.

IMO theres so muc depth Microsoft is missing out on by not reinventing tese franchises. Decent teams would do these justice. Even if they worked on 2 at a time.

Banjo Kazooie

I don't think Banjo Kazooie it's such a big franchise, it's just on a popularity level as Ratchet or Jak . The only big characters that I can think about are Master Chief and Marcus, I know that there are other less known characters, but the Microsoft's less known characters are less known than the Sony's less known characters. (Hope you got my point! :) )

Banjo Kazooie

They might have a bit of difficulty getting it past Nintendo, is my only worry.
