Anyone can be tricked into carrying bomb parts to assemble a bomb into an airport.

If you thought outside the box, if we never would check babies and old people wouldn't they use them?

Caring about life, our fragile economy, or planes crashing into buildings does not make you a P*ssy.

In the last week TSA agents a 90 year old woman and 30 year old woman with a dead child gutted and filled with drugs were all arrested in different incidents.

Actually the Airport screeners (some airports have private contractors) have stopped terrorist and drug runners and people with gun quite regularly, it doesn't make national news but it happens all the time.

No one has the "right to fly", but it is a useful convent way to travel. In today’s society, we have this threat level that won't go away. In Russia there have been plane disasters dealing with terrorist post 9/11. Subway and bus bombings in England, and train bombings in Spain. The US foiled flight bombings at Kennedy airport post 9/11 and multiple attempts directed toward NYC. I know that you have it made up in your mind of what a terrorist is but I can assure you that it could be anybody and that person may not have any knowledge of it. In Iraq they use mentally challenged women, animals, trash, dead kids....It is real and just because we didn't as of now, have had any major problems don't mean that it is unnecessary. It's like locking your locker at the gym or your front door at your house every once in a while...it only takes one time. But hey, you may have your mind already made up, that's cool but I’ll take my chances with the pat downs rather than the risk of a plane with my mother and father exploding or crashing due you some of you guys' assertion that we "man up" or pretend that no one is trying to kill us simply for ideology.

Just because you chose to quote a famous dead person does not mean that you are some type of intellect nor does it mean that the quote in question is correct.

I don't understand what the big deal is.
We all have to do it. Welcome to the 21st century where kids have been sent to kill soldiers strapped with bombs.

Didn't know that America was as equal as Afghanistan or Iraq. Never head a case in which a kid was done that on US soil, nor in any other country outside those, but hey, fuck common sense right?

The point is, you never know. If we start letting people know that we don't pat down kids or oldies, we may see a bomb.

I'd prefer news like this hits and terrorists know it's not going to work.

You never know. No system ever will prevent terrorism, crimes and other bad things from happen. Even in the socialist/communist countries (i was born in the GDR) existed crimes, the spying didn't prevent this.

But bullshit like the TSA-stuff is destroying the freedom of the people. The terrorists have already won in the US. They disliked the lifestyle of freedom, so they made a terrorist attack - and now the US-government is taking the freedom from the people.

So, you can NEVER prevent terrorism and many acts of controlling people are destroying freedom, so you have to make a weighting - in the case of the TSA the loss of freedom is much bigger than the win of security (if there is any).

And people claiming it is better here in Europe - we may not have TSA, but we have for instance telecommunications data retention. That's the same: nearly no impact on security, but much on the freedom.

As others pointed out: Israel handles the security in airports without something like TSA. And they have a much bigger terrorist threat.

Things like wiretaps and phone conversation retentions have been around for decades and not just in europe, plus in most european countries it's illegal to go to court with them if they're not sanctioned by an official judge or instance. Also, there has been a lot of public outcry and backlash for the use of these data retentions in the past years, especially in the UK with the Murdoch's case.

I'm not saying that we in Europe don't have security fuck-ups, we have a lot of them, but I don't think we have one that's as extreme as one that patdown 4-year old kids.

@klumminati - I guarantee you this: If I went to the US with a baby and they forced a patdown on him/her, they'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands. Those kind of thoughts are borderline paranoid and the very essence of what the terrorist want you to behave and think like. If you're paranoid, you're constantly afraid and will want to lose everything just to feel "safe". Guess what, no one in this world is safe. Can you guarantee that when you go out with a couple of friends you won't be mugged, shot at or anything of the sort (goddess forbid it, it's just an example)? Are you going to stay at home constantly afraid of that happening? It's the same principle as what the terrorists want to apply.

QFE.

Between the TSA fondling children and unconstitutional acts like the Patriot Act, infringements on posse comitatus, and the censoring of the so called free press, we are inching closer and closer to an authoritarian, and some might even say fascist, state that Hitler would be proud of, and the sickening thing is most people either don't care or actually support it. Of course we are not there yet, but we are certainly headed in that direction, and remember that a Nazi Germany state doesn't happen over night. It is a slow and progressive change so that people don't even realize what is happening until it is too late.

I hate reading stories like these. I feel for the girl and her parents but I also understand what the agent were doing and I'm sure they weren't enjoying doing that to a little girl either. It's just sad that we have to do stuff like this to people.

W dont have too. We choose too. Big difference. There are other options that do not involve this, just look at israel a country with far more terroist problems than the US and I dont hear stories of them searching 4 year olds like this.

Isreal profiles people which helps a TON. Here in Amurika we must be equal! 80 year old grandma gets a patdown!

We are talking about Airport security. Not the rest of the government.

The "terrorist" won this one. They got america scared shitless and the TSA becoming complete dick holes.
