Forums - Politics - If I Wanted America to Fail....

The line that really got to me in that was: "I'd make it more fashionable to resent success than to seek it"

That sounds exactly like most people these days, like the wall street protesters. Instead of seeking success and trying to become upper class, the lower/middle classes are encourages to just hate the upper class and want them brought down...instead of bringing themselves up.

If I wanted America to fail I would burden her with pointless wars and deficit spending. On the topic of climate change, it's a shame people don't simply embrace nuclear power, it's economical and (relatively) environmentally friendly.

I work in the nuclear industry.  High five!

This video proves one thing. Check out one of the highly rated comments:

YouTube has purposely screwed up the "Closed Caption" text on this video. That way all those who are hearing impaired or don't speak English (around the world), won't understand this video at all! It's insidious what YouTube (owned by Google) is doing to America!

While it's hilarious that the original poster doesn't realise that ALL Closed Captions don't work properly, the fact that it's been thumbed up so many times gives everyone the impression that it's nothing but conspiracy theorists that take this video seriously.

I can't believe how many people are against green technology.
Creating millions of jobs around the US, creating an oil independence, freeing ourselves from the yoke of the middle east, no, creating millions of jobs world-wide, as we lead the world with american made, american techology, american exports....flaunting our gorgeous green valleys, snow capped mountains, and lush meadows to a rising global power covered in smog and pollution. We will make the Chinese so envious of ours they will struggle to reform or collapse under the pressure of their own people.
We will make the call that living clean and free of waste, and having healthcare is a RIGHT, and the poor and downtrodden will overthrow their masters in revolution.

But yet republicans can't get out of their own way because Big Oil, Big Coal, and Big Farm is trying to tell us that green is the problem.

Fail guys, major fail.

Some of these guys have been on the record stating that buying a politician provides the best "rate of return" for their buck.

Since business is obligated to go with the most profitable path, is it no suprise that the government is mostly bought out by big business interests?

Its no surprise to me.
again its voting against best interest and voting for old money.
get some new money in there. Shake shit up with the nouveau riche and well all be better off for it.

i dont know any one that is agaisnt it. what people are against is the government creating a market where there isnt any. with green energy companies going bankrupt left and right, ones with government grants and subsidies. there just currently isnt any market for it, and no matter what government does, it cant force one. it doesnt create jobs it destroys them. it takes away jobs from businesses that are profitable, and that make products people want at an affordable price, it drives up costs of everything for the consumer, and it cost the tax payers.

when these green energies become economically viable, there will be a market, people will swittch to it, it will create jobs, but that time is not now, and the government cant force it to be, the tech just isnt there.

also, you do realize that big "insert evil corporation" gave more money to dems and obama than repubs, right?

Ahahaha show me a source for that last bit.
And do yourself a favor and look at the green companies that arent failing.

I can give you one MASSIVE example otherwise. It was a technology that revolutionised the portable computing market, with billions of embedded devices using it today. You could say it even opened new branches in said industry.

The technology? Wifi

The creator? The Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), a department of the Australian Government.

So to all those conservatives that believe that government does no good, should have no say in reserch and innovation, I implore you: in order to show no hypocrisy, get rid of every wifi-enabled device that you own.
