LCD LED vs Plasma for gaming

LCD 44 9.95%

Plasma 195 44.12%

LCD LED 202 45.70%

Total:441

not sure what to tell you. I got a panasonic plasma 50" and find it really amazing but I am wary about screen burn so I always play with the contrast really low.. however I find for gaming including playing retro systems and current gen and pc gaming the colours and picture quality are just amazing..

anyway if you already have a plasma then you already know the pros and cons.. such as more power consumption and when you move it around you have to let the gases settle for a couple of hours etc.. and don't turn the contrast up too high..

If you want the change and go for LED then go ahead.. but I hear they are not true LED unless you buy OLED which are much more expensive.. anyway just do some more research and buy a hifi and tv magazine and check the reviews..

My plasma is about 2 years old and I wouldn't call it that old.. I don't know much about the older generation of plasmas and only time will tell if my plasma will be value for money.. besides if you do get screen burn you can download stuff to help run in your TV screen.

I'd say go with a 24" CRT and if you have the budget you could stretch to one with built in vhs.

My Plasma always is complimented by my LED friends and family. They think it was price, but the main difference is it is a plasma. The colors are so bright.

plasma is excellent for gaming as you will get good picture good colours and good blacks for a fraction of the price of an led

downside is they are heavy

i use a 42" samsung plasma it has lots and lots of picture enhancement options and i love it to bits, sound is naff though thats why i had to use seperate speakers

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

plasma>led/lcd

led uses the same liquid crystal tech as lcd it just has led backlights instead of fluorescent lamps, with led and lcd you get noticeable blur while panning the camera in all games more noticeable on FPS with only ips panels being somewhat better at handling this than the commonly use va. led is better than lcd mainly the full array with local dimming b/c it produces deeper blacks, a edge lit led doesnt really have any advantages then a standard lcd besides being thinner and energy efficient

i havent tried 2012 led with 240hz and up tvs yet b/c idc i know that my 2011 LG 120hz with it set to 120hz does eliminate the blur but also gets this unnatural soap opera effect or being to smooth, for games it also messes up other things like the reticule and hud everything else will be nice and smooth but you will have a blur around the hud and character if TPS aswell as controller input lag and double reticules which can be seen in youtube vids

plasma and old school crt are the best b/c of there fast respond times with crt being ahead and they have better blacks i would recommend a plasma made after 2008 b/c of the better burn in protection

Have youu met my good friend, Mr. Period?

OT: If you do go Plasma, don't take the risk of watching porn on it via PS3 or some other device. Don't ask.

If you are going with LCD, get LED.
CCFL darkens over time, uses more power and throws out more heat, LED back-lighting will stay as bright as the day you bought the panel.
This is also a flaw with Plasma panels too, they will also darken over time.

Secondly... Steer clear from Samsungs for awhile, I have noticed they have started using cheap non-solid capacitors which can reduce the reliability of the panels, which they probably did to increase profits.

As for response times... They really are a non issue these days. LCD has come along way over the last several years, you would notice a larger difference if a game ran at 60fps rather than 30fps.

Why, that is one of the reasons PS3 is superior to the 360? You must still live at home. XD

Doesn't everyone live at home? That's why it's called 'home'.

To answer your first question: Burn in. I know it's rare. But with porn, it's just not worth the risk, even if it's small.

LED obviously, plasma is good but doesnt last nearly as much as LED tech since its a gas.
LCD sucks

*face palm*
LCD sucks? Those TV's that are advertised as LED? News flash. They are LCD panels. The difference is that the light behind them is now LED.
