Action and Racing games all those games that sell best on the PS3. Actually that is a pretty good question. I mean if you ask what is a typical XBoX game? a "Shooter". Nintendo has mostly platformers and Jump´n Runs. But the Playstation has all kinds of exclusives.

Right now, i'm glad this game has leaked early, it seems the huge "Sony copies Nintendo" wave has already blown over weeks ago.

Fighting games sell best on PS3 (disregarding exclusives), so I think a fighting game with Sony characters would definitely appeal to a large section of PS3 owners.

Yeah that´s true but not many fighting games have te potential to reach 2m+ except of tekken and Streetfighter maybe.

Nintendo could pull it off as they have iconic and long lasting characters with clearly themed and quite well known areas too. Not only this but the vast majority of the characters fit in with each other. Yea Fox and Captain Falcon are from slightly more realistic games but they still fit in okay with Pikachu. Later they started adding in Characters like Ike who fit in a little less but at the same time was close to link in style and was still from a game that while violent wasn't gory or really bloody.

With Sony where would the stages be? Generic jungle from Uncharted, generic industrial area from Twisted metal? The only good ones I can think of would be stages themed around Parappa the rapper, locoroco etc i.e. the more stylized games but then how messed up will Kratos look there?

That raises the problem of what style of game is it? SSB is quite cartoony in it's style and even though it's fighting it isn't gory or very violent. But if you have a game with Kratos, Drake using a gun etc etc... well it kinda has to be. However you can't really have Kratos cut Ratcher in half, then again you can't have Kratos fight and not be gory.

Then the characters.... so you have Nathan Drake, Kratos, Sly Cooper, Sackboy, Ratchet, Clank, Jak And Daxter, Locoroco, Patapon, Parappa. Already you are having to use some VERY recent characters and some characters only known to a small amount of gamers. A very small selection but already with far too big a disparity in style.

Then I guess you have to start using things like Sweet tooth, an ape from ape escape, Nariko, the interchangeable short haired angry men from Killzone, resistance and Infamous (Sev, Nathan, Cole).

I just really don't think Sony alone has a strong enough stable of characters to make it work. Now if they can get some third parties on board it will be amazing. Get Kratos, Drake etc standing alongside Dante, Cloud, Lara etc and it will be a dream come true. Make it a more realistically styled fighter but still 4 player etc. That could be great.

to get a good list of Playstation characters isn't too hard, you've already listed 17 right there, you can throw in Murray andf Bentley for Sly characters, I'm sure Zeus would be an easy edition for Kratos, Captain Quark for Ratchet and Clank (and maybe Nefarious if you want)

then you'd have to look deeper into Sony's library of games for characters, like some of the regular cast from the Hot Shots Golf series, the presenter from the Buzz series, Gabriel Logan from the Syphon Filter series and Sir Daniel Fortesque from MediEvil, all of these games have a history of being on playstation and have had 7th gen releases through the PSP

getting 20 characters  using only Sony owned characters for this kind of game wouldn't be very hard, if you could use Spyro and Crash Bandicoot it would be even better and I'm sure your Playstation Home character could use a cameo in there too :P


woah dont forget some characters like

Maximillion (Dark Cloud 2)

Monica (Dark Cloud 2)

Spike (Ape Escape 1)

Dart (Legend Of Dragoon)

man there is just so many characters

Sony has way too many good Franchises to think that they would have a hard time making this game

this game should have been made a long time ago. Idk why Sony didn't make this game back on the PS1. Smash Bros was like the only game PS1 didnt have an answe for back then(and Maybe Mario Party). They definitely had what it took to make the game though

I could honestly think of about 40 characters from all of Sony's franchises and they have a lot of levels to choose from

yea its because Sony doesnt aim to have a typical game. they have always been all around

to be honest

if there was 1 time where Sony needed to copy Nintendo, it would be with this game.

Super Smash Bros is a fun ass game and Nintendo did 1 hell of a job with it

i mean it can have its twists and all but it needs to be similar in basically  every area. when you get knocked off the stage and die, i want to here that same noise and see that same stream of light(or whatever the hell it is) that shows up.

and some levels should fly around a stage while fighting like it does in Smash Bros

most likely Sony is going to put a twist on everything but they just need to give Nintendo competition with this game because it will only make both games better in the end

^Okay, I can't agree more with enditall. If there is ONE thing Sony should copy Nintendo on, it would be this.

I don't care what console you prefer, it would just be so awesome to have more smash insanity with characters from another strand, and I don't care what the haters or fanboys say, they have my full blessing.
