Forums - Gaming - NVIDIA: Mobile graphics perfomance will reach 360's perfomance in 2014

so? it means nothing for gaming, its only performance.

mmm... So? -(i'm being 100% honest here).

Hmm I thought the GeForce GTX 485M beats the crap out of the XBox chip..

Isn't Apple's A5X GPU and Samsung's Exynos Processor better performers than Tegra 3 and 4? I am sure I read somewhere that they were... don't know.

Anyway this is Nvidia's opinion. Other manufacturers like Samsung could be there sooner.

I dont think anyone knows the actual performance of Tegra 4 yet so i cant comment on that.

As for tegra 3, its quite a good soc. However its bested by the Vita and the new ipad for sure. Also, saying the "exynos processor" is too general you need to be a bit more specific than that.

This is nvidia's projections, but i think they are painting the best picture possible for their next gen tegra tec. Where in reality their projections of previous gen tec like tegra 3 and tegra 2 havent been very accurate. As it stands now, based on pure theoretical computing power...current smartphones are far off from current consoles, despite how close it looks in reality. The thing is as graphical fidelity increases overall..it becomes increasingly harder to tell the difference with the naked eye.

Intel Core i7 3770K [3.5GHz]|MSI Big Bang Z77 Mpower|Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 2 x 4GB|MSI GeForce GTX 560 ti Twin Frozr 2|OCZ Vertex 4 128GB|Corsair HX750|Cooler Master CM 690II Advanced|

i dont care

Doubt it. Battery life is still a huge issue for mobile devices.
So unless they start increasing the size of batteries or including multiple of them, I don't see an iPad(certainly not an iPhone) getting 360-level graphics.

What were phones like 7 years ago?

hmmmm

lets just say it how it is...........other systems wont have anything to worry about

Don't quite get what they mean by that. I mean they say that "new" ipad is stronger than PS3/360 and such but in what way. There is more ram, quad core graphics etc but there is nothing even close to the console experiences on ipad. Forget the controls for a moment but even visually nothing like uncharted, gears, god of war or forza.

By the time phones can produce "real" console graphics, we'll have virtual reality by then.
