Forums - General Discussion - Mafia Round 40. Pokemon! Gotta Catch them all!

Put yourself in mafia shoes. and reread this:

"If you got your PM, it would have told you who is in your team. Assuming it was 3, you could only logically deduce that there were 2 factions. So, the lengths that I, as town, went through to figure that out means alot to townies, but it wouldn't mean much to scum since the effort of deduction was minimal on your part."

If you are scum, the two-faction theory is nothing special, because the mafia's PM would have made it clear to them that there is a 2nd faction.

I'm not fabricated, you're just not getting it.

Assuming.

Also, please, your take on this:

^This is the best post you've made so far. Now I would tell you what I got in my PM, but the rules told me strictly not to do so.

What I can tell you is, as far as I can tell, Pokemon trainers are mafia (whether good or bad), and pokemon are townie.

Now, for town, you should get off my case. I've said enough already. And no more accusing me of not providing details, I've already said too much.

And we are back to that hole.

Why? I showed you that the OP suggest otherwise. I could be wrong, but it just makes your statement even more invalid.

I agree with Moreno that we can do better without Dolphin scattering everyone's focus, anti-town or not.

I'd like to ask you a question, hatmoza, because you are experienced. At this point, it seems that if town doesn't lynch HD on Day 1, then it can only be because they trust into his power role. Which means that mafia will want to get rid of him. I don't think this can be avoided anymore, so HD will be a high priority for the mafia no matter what. Since this is the case (well, I think it is), I don't see any reason why HD should keep his role a secret, so he might as well tell us everything on Day 1 to make sure that the town definitely got all of the information. Due to dumb circumstance (for example, mafia having a role blocker that blocks the doctor who protects HD) he could get killed during Night 1 and then will take the info, which he says is valuable, to his grave.

So the question is, is there any point to HD not spilling the beans on Day 1? Are there roles that are better kept a secret, even at this point?

...

Yes. If his ability scans for example. Mafia will be reluctant to kill someone during the night.  They will likely target someone who would likely not be watched by the watcher for example. Say for example Dolphin claims tracker, scum would have the mafia member who is unlikely to be watched  carry out the kill.

Another reason is the scum may have a whore or roleblocker. Say, for example, Dolphin claim cop, all the scum would have to do for the rest of the game is block him. Rendering the cop useless untill the whore is lynched or killed.

Benefits for Dolphin roleclaiming a very important role is that he will get doctor support. The double edge sword is that because he hogs the doctor support, the mafia are guaranteed a night kill every night because they know who the doctor is going to protect... Unless the doctor chooses to take a risk and protect someone else.

There are roles you don't want to expose unless necessary.

Assuming is the best we can do, being townie we have no idea what the mafia got in their PM. Assuming is good if it leads to promising theories.

Are you townie???

If the wind howls, and the sun rises, you may find the answer.

Just kidding, yes, I'm a townie.

"Anyway, Here at pokepark we have various of pokemon. Only the certified trainers are allowed inside but don't fret you can watch the whole activity. Trainers battle it out with pokemons and catch them."

Well, I'm not sure if the game of mafia only happens at pokepark or on the wild, but I was assuming it was in the wild...

So, going by OP, we have that the game happens only at pokepark, and only certified trainers are allowed inside. So, there are only two possibilities left:

1) One anti-pokemon faction: the pokemon trainers.

2) One anti-pokemon faction: the pokemon trainers, and a rogue player (basil).

So, my team rocket theory falls apart. This is more support that I'm town, because I have no idea what the anti-town team is like.

@rol

Yes, to answer your question, definitely keep your pie hole shut about being a doctor. I doubt HD is doctor so I don't see any reason why he shouldn't role claim.
