As a mere town it's your job to die. You would be doing town a disservice by not drawing a kill on you. If you happen to have a power role, then yes, it's worth finding that balance between the suspicion that keeps you alive at Night and the trust that keeps you alive during Day.

As for your last sentence, do you want to fight? I don't see the point in it though.

 

You're on the right track. You're still learning. One cannot simply completely play it safe and then suddenly decide halfway through day 2 to look more suspicious. You will get shot in the face like that. A couple more games and you'll find the balance. Don't be so hard on yourself. It was just your second game.
