i have a photo of me n my girlfriend. i scanned to my computer. i use "irfanview" to reseize the image and save the image to different format types etc......

i save my pic as jpeg and then upload it to "photobucket" as a avatar and now i want to use that image as my display avatar on all forum sites.

now since the pic is of me n my girlfriend i dont want people to "right click, save picture as" and copy my picture.

now is there a way to prevent my picture being able to copied?

example:

- if u look at this topic you'll see people's display picture right?

- now if you right click on the display picture a list of options comes up right? most of the times it lists:

* opem

* open link in a new window

* save picture as

* print target

* save picture as

* email picture

etc.........

Nope, and even if you could, if the picture is on my screen, i can just press print screen, paste it into paint, then crop out your picture.

If you don't want people to have it, don't use it as an avatar.

Erm, kinda a rule of the internet: Once it's here, it's everyones.

Well, not exactly a rule, but the fact of the matter is, if people really really want it, once it's online, it's free for the taking. Enormous companies spend all their time trying to prevent it.

So, don't place anything on the internet that you don't want others to posses! Of course, 99.9999999% of the time, no one honestly gives a shit, but just to make it perfectly clear, once it's online, it's open, whether legally or not, someone can take it.

theres no way to stop ppl if they really want the picture...
even if you can stop them from right clicking and saving as, they can still press the print screen button and crop the picture...

i dont know why anyone would want to though?

There is not a way. You put the picture on the internet, you have to deal with it. If you don't want people copying it, don't put it on the internet.

If you use it as an avatar, the image that gets copied after "Save Image As" is a smaller one, not the original picture. And I'm pretty sure no serious member on this forum would "steal" another person's avatar!

Why the hell would anyone want to save your picture?

And if someone does, who cares, if it bothers you so much don't upload it.
