For the same reason there was so much hate for Wii, fear of something new & a games library one doesn't think is very good. While the wii weakened the iOS Family grows from strength to strength turning that fear into anger then anger into hate....eventually leading us all to the dark side. 

Hmm while not a significant enough dent to scare Activision yet I'm sure, it could also be due to console sales being ~slower this year than last year.

Anyways, can't say I'm sad about this, maybe it'll give them some incentive to do something to improve the franchise.
