It started the year at 3.8, then 3.5 at march, then 2.8 at end of july/august.
So, it erased about a million of the gap during 2011.
This time, we're at 1.999 at march, looking at maybe 1.2 by august if it roughly outsells it by 40k per week. Probably won't make it this year, but might start in January with less than a million gap.

according to VGC's number right now it should be something like 1.8-2.0 at 2012 Q1

ah wait i'm talking about shipment

damn i want GRFS

what's grfs?

btw someone should open a thread to predict MS's 2012 Q1 shipment,MS's report coming next week

oh and give people to choose 0m

Hmm I'd say it's likely that it will be 700k, which according to some, is proof of being undertracked, when it really isn't.

go make it,a thread

Eh, I don't like to make threads very much.

oops
let's wait anyone would like to open it

I don't trust those VGC PS3 adjustments unless there are backed by solid shipment numbers. And the gap doesn't really matter anymore, because a new console generation is coming!

Wow, nearly six years on the market and catching up to the 360 is the goal. That's pretty sad when you consider where Sony was with the PS2 and PS1. I mean yeah it's kind of an accomplishment I guess, but overall Sony will be the loser of this gen no matter how anyone spins it.

Just imagine what people would have said if anyone predicted this when the 360 launched. The PS3 was supposed to DreamCast the 360 out of existence. Kind of bitter-sweet I imagine. Next Gen will be interesting.

Shit entered the wrong choice in the poll :/

I think it will overtake the 360, if ever, sometime towards the end of 2014 maybe beginning of 2015.

2012 and to a lesser degree 2013 are completely unrealistic though.

Hmmmm...

I'm not convinced PS3 will ever surpass the 360, and that's coming from a Sony fan.

First of all, I'm not sure the gap is 2m. I would wait until quarterly results to check whether MS really overshipped last quarter. Ultil then, as far as I'm concerned, the 360 could be undertracked.

Then there is the rumours of MS releasing a supercheap 360 with Kinect for the casuals which, if true, would make it difficult for PS3 to catch up. Even with a simple price cut the 360 would do at least similar numbers to last year, so Sony would need to cut the PS3's price again this year.

It may happen by late 2013, but I'm not sure at all. I'll have a clearer idea after the quarterly results and probably a more definite answer after the next holiday season.

Add in a 'I don't think it will' option in your poll and I might take your thread a bit more seriously my good enfendim.

Hes poll trolled me

I thought the last option would follow the flow of hes proposed options something like

"end of 2012"

"early 2013"

"mid 2013"

"end of 2013"

This is where i assumed the next option would be something like "never or sometime after 2014" So i automatically clicked it.

Yet for some odd reason the last option is oct 2012....

DAFUK???!??

I gotta agree with troll here...given the momentum the 360 has, it doesnt seem likely that PS3 will ever take over the 360 in lifetime sales.

Well, see the thing is, some places were offering 100$ 360 arcades with kinect last black friday, and holiday deals were the usual 100$ giftcard offers.

I believe that MS funded a lot of these deals,a dn would be surprised to see if they both drop the price AND offer deals of that magnitude. I would imagine a 50$ price drop and then 50$ gift cards, thereby resulting in the same cost to the consumer.

Are these threads still relevant?really?this make some people happy after waiting 6 yrs?compare sony,s losses to what microsoft has gained this gen and we clearly can see who is the winner and who is the loser.anyway congrats to sony for losing so much money to get to 2nd or 1st.these type of threads always make me comment. pls make more.
