The gap is like 2 mil or whatever...
Why care really? I mean.. It's barely like selling 2 millions will change anything for us. We wont barely notice any change in online play for instance... I mean both consoles have practically similar sales aside from ..2-5 mil here and there. But its so little in comparison to how much they've sold... I don't see what would happen if the PS3 closed the gap and even passed the 360 with 1 Mil. Is it just for us fans to like.. gloat? Does anything really happen? We've already established that Sony/MS can claim they sold most based on shipments so...
EDIT: I obsess with reviews/awards because I want the devs that I'm fan for to you know... get acclaimed and get attention even though I know reviews are reaally subjective. But why is sales such a factor when its so similar? Will Sony like.. get something out of outselling the 360? Am I missing something here?

Lol, no just no. NPD's numbers are just estimates like Vgchartz numbers are estimates & the numbers that you are talking about are SHIPPED numbers NOT SOLD numbers which is what this site tracks. Microsoft overshipped in the Oct-Dec quarter and now they are paying the price for that.
I can't understand why VGchartz would undertrack PS3 and overtrack 360 by so much. The original numbers have aways seen right to me. It's hard to belive that PS3 sold that much with no strong strong game releases nor promotions.

What are original numbers to you? The gap was 2,8mil, now 2 mil.

PSP launch price - $250
Vita launch price - $250. On par with 3DS before the the panic price cut.
Sony isn't being arrogant. At least not this gen. They know they don't have the portable game market so what is there to be arrogant about?
