They range from 3-20mph depending on the model, so they're not that slow anyway :p

Ridden them quite a few times now. For some reason they seem to think they are fun activities at corporate events. To be honest apart form the amusing first few minutes of getting the hang of using them they are incredibly dull and uninteresting. They can be handy to get around on, but exciting is definitely not somehting I would associate with them

No, the creator is fine. The "owner" of the Segway company is who died. An old man who just took a wrong turn apparently.
