Forums - Gaming - Google hits one out of the ballpark (earnings)

Google's revenue for the quarter was 10.65 billion, versus 8.58 billion a year ago.  This represents a 25% increase.

Google's net income was 2.89 billion, versus 1.8billion a year ago.  This is about a 60% increase year over year.

Quite simply, google is growing at more than twice as fast as msft, so expect google to start to really pour some money into marketing and put the last nails in theWinPho coffin as msft will probably decide to find an easier market to go after.

congrats to Google for another good year.

What's NWO?

OT: Congrats Google! Maybe you'll use this to make Android easier and more accessible to update? Or to enfource better rules on Android? You need to use this on Android.

Google is also planning on a two for one stock split, which has been historically associated with an increase in price, so goog will soon have a higher market cap.

A: Google did well, no denying that, and better in the phone market than MS.

B: Overall Google is unlikely to catch MS as you seemed to imply sorta.

no shit

Microsoft formed 1975 (public 1986)
Google formed 1998 (public 2004)

You seem to over simplify and generalise... and hate all things MSmobile... you last sentence is barmy.

This thread isn't quite as bad as your one yesterday though...

Google has been growing twice as fast as msft for the last 2-3'years.  That at least points to google having a decent chance at eclipsing msft's revenue and earnings in the years to come.

Yes... but that doesnt meed MS dies you know...

As steve jobs said to a booing crowd of Apple employees when MS bailed Apple out.. "MS doesn't need to fail for Apple to succeed"  insert Google for Apple.

MS isnt going anywhere soon.

My point was that msft is quickly becoming mediocre, and that is why other companies are taking away some of their business.

Bing, wp7, IE, are all being threatened or in the case of bing, hanging by an ass hair.  Even the windows OS will lose some marketshare to Chrome, as other companies are wanting to make chrome computers now.

But Bing is growing YoY so is WP7, their market share is low but growth is not "hanging by an ass hair". And net books died with the advent of tablets, a segment that MS is going to make their big push into with Win 8.

MS revenue: $16.4bn up almost 20%, profit $5.2bn up about 30%

and...

MS market cap: $259bn

Google market cap: $211bn

Isnt MS's cap $604 bn reached in 1999?
