Since when is selling more than half a million copies doing mediocre?
|
Since it was a resident evil game
|
How does that make any sense?
You're comparing a portable first year release with home consoles with years of installed userbase with the latest technology.
|
I wasn't comparing anything. I just meant to say they probably expected better sales since it is a resident evil game.

Did you know that Lost Planet 2 sold 1,6 million units? Its had worse opening weeks on either the systems it came out than RE:Revelations. I'm pretty sure its selling within Capcom's expectations and i wouldnt be surprised to see it reach 1 million aswell a year from launch.
This whole thing saying RE sales on the 3DS is mediocre is just a plain premature comment, especially when the game has already sold 0,52m units and counting. I just dont see how you can interpret these early results as disappointing unless you wrongly comparing it to home consoles.
This last generation brought on the stigma that a game needs to sell 1 million units to be a sucess. That only applies to big budget releases on the Home consoles. It doesnt apply to every single game from now onwards.
The assets used to develop RE:Revelations were shared with RE mercenaries and its an engine originally used for Super Street fighter 4 3D edition. So, there was no development of a new engine and the game's areas span a boat. The game looks incredible and is prett good, but its easy to tell that a game like this probably makes a profit at 200k units. It really isnt the same thing as developing an HD game with state of the art physics and animations.
Capcom also went on record on the week the game released to say they were pleased with the sales. Chances are we will see more RE on the 3DS on the future. Its easy money with low risk for capcom.
