Forums - Nintendo - first details on bioware's new sonic RPG for the DS

I hope that this turns out to be a good sonic game, I'm really looking forward to it.

Nintendo still doomed?

Alex, if you keep trolling any information that comes out about this game, I will ban you. This is your fair warning. I'm so tired of it, and so is everyone else. People are here to discuss this game, and no one wants to listen to your bitching. So stop. Now.

One cannot have an opinion? Instead of threating to ban, you could, as I have, thoroughly explain your opinions, against mine, so that I am proven wrong, instead of telling me that I am.

  • Nintendo Power Cover Story with nice artwork Yeah, they probably revised Sonic's look again to make him look even more ugly.
  • In game graphics have a water color look, all hand drawn Hand drawn water color look? Okay, that could fit in well with the Sonic formula.
  • 4 party members at a time That could be cool.
  • Each character can do certain things ex: Tails can float over things (standard stuff) Makes sense.
  • 11 party members total - 8 known are Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Shadow, Big the Cat First slap in the face. Remove Amy, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Amy, Shadow, Amy, Big, the rest, oh, and Amy too.
  • Control done fully with stylus - think Hourglass Using the DS's, unique functionality... Nice, nice...
  • Able to split party into teams at certain moments That could be cool.
  • Rings are used as currency Currency? I don't know... Maybe... Maybe not...
  • No random battles, see enemies on the field More realistic... Unlike Pokemon... Okay... Maybe...
  • Turn based battles, choose commands for everyone in your party before they actually follow through. Want battles to be fast paced This could limit freedom...
  • Elite Beat Agents type special attacks I have not played Elite Beat Agents, but isn't that game, not even an RPG game?
  • Team attacks (like Chrono Trigger) Typical.
  • "Fatigue Points" instead of MP Fatigue points? I think we've recieved our second slap in the face. This time, the second cheek, for symmetrical balance.
  • Choose which attributes to increase when you level up Just like Mario & Luigi... Right?
  • Purchase and level special attacks This game has yet to have anything unique...
  • Bits of story - Sonic's on vacation from defeating Eggman 2 years ago. Gets a call from Tails that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a group called the Marauders, and that 6 chaos emeralds are missing. Eggman not the main villain. But Bioware wants to make him a creditable bad guy again. Something about a "twist" between Eggman and Sonic that goes back to the earlier games. Erase all of that. All of it. First of all, he's Dr. Robotnik, not Humpty Dumpty. Second, he has never, officially, defeated Egg Boy, since he always comes back. Third, screw Knuckles. Let him be kidnapped, so we don't have to see his ugly face again. Forth, Marauders? LOL. No. Fifth, why 6 Chaos Emeralds? Why not all 7? Lack of consistancy! Sixth, Eggman should be the main villain. Whenever he is not, he is replaced by some retarded looking freak. This game seems to continue, out of the Sonic formula. I do not have high hopes for this game.
  • 2 acts - first takes place in standard Sonic areas. 2nd takes place in a darker world Screw the darker worlds. Sonic has always been in a lighted, happy world, and adding all this dark crap is just depressing, and not Sonic. We have enough dark crap in other video games. Sonic was the small light, shining forth, from within all the darkness, and now Sonic has, to some degree, joined those games, with the stupid dark bull crap. The Genesis games never had anything dark with them. It's Shadow that started it all.
  • Remixed clasic tunes I don't think the classic tunes will even deserve to be in this game.
  • "fully animated cut scenes" With bad voice acting, and moving lips that don't synchronise.
  • simple dialogue trees The Sonic games need more simplicity, and less awkward stories, that don't make sense, and less of these stupid characters, less of different types of gameplay, and other, less bull shit.
  • Side quests No.
this game sounds great :) the ds has a nice year ahead of it.
So far, it seems to be just like all the other Sonic games, except for the fact that it's going to be an RPG game, instead of a platformer. Sonic is dead. DEAD!
Thank you for your angry, biased lengthy rant against a few lines of early info on a game we still know practically nothing about. I'm not only glad that your judgment is superior to the entire Sonic DS team at Bioware, but that you were generous enough to spend enough time out of your obviously packed social life to share it with us in an easily digestable point by point format.

These are only my opinions. Sonic has been going down hill, ever since Sonic Heroes, so why should this be good? Because BioWare is makig it? Well, perhaps BioWare "could" revise the franchise, but I doubt it. Maybe it will be good. Maybe I will be wrong. We will see. You have your opinions. I have mine. So far, the game appears to be good in certain areas, but other areas I do not like, and are repeated mistakes, from previous Sonic games, like having too many characters that no one wants to play! By the way, after reading your previous posts, you have been far more negative, than I.

Wait, the point of the story is to rescue Knuckles?

Since this game is made by BioWare, kings of in-game choice, can I opt to not save the dumb bastard and play a drinking mini-game the entire time instead?
