Forums - Microsoft - No hope left for Kinect? Star Wars Metacritic scores horrendous

You're disappointed.......

Yeah, sure you are.

Could you be more transparent?

OT

A bad game is a bad game.

But last hope for Kinect? Last time I looked it was selling pretty well. Motion game suits certain genre and can sell really well..... Which is something that Nintendo and MS have managed to capitalise on very well.

Motion gaming tends to fail when it tries to replace the traditional controller in more core gaming....

bad game is bad?     and to think, only a few days ago you were attacking my personal character for thinking that same thought.

I'm disappointed, it was hyped to be the best hardcore Kinect game and then it turns to be this...

Share your opinions, is there hope left for Kinect outside some dance games?

No, it was bashed incessantly for being a poorly designed on-rails mess. We've known that it would be a bad game for quite a while now.

That doesn't mean that nobody will ever be able to make a good hardcore Kinect game (although it does reveal some of the platform's limitations).

The only reason anyone was ever hyped for this game was when it was slated for a Holiday release last Christmas. It was supposed to be a big hardware pusher for the holidays with the bundle. Then when it got delayed past christmas it couldn't be used in the holiday tracking thread for the 360 catching PS3 gap.

After that, no one cared for it besides someone who wants to spend 450 bucks on a console 7 years into it's life.

But what's a "good" metascore for Kinect games?

Kinect milion sellers and their meta-scores (incl Adventures because even if it wasn't packed in it woulda sold >1 million):

Adventures - 61
Sports - 73
Dance Central - 82
Sports Season 2 - 66
Just Dance 3 - 70
Dance Central 2 - 86
Kinectimals - 77
Joyride - 52

So you can see there's a substantial range of Meta scores that achieve >1 million in sales, including a game with a lower meta than Star Wars.

Along with the Star Wars brand I figure this game is good for at least 1.5 million. So it will be a successful Kinect game, if not a critically acclaimed one.

No surprise here.

My Mom said it looked really fun when she saw the commercial, she also doesn't like video gaming. I think we know where Microsoft was trying to get with this game...........................

(Those dots were necessary.)

I don't recall watching any such commercial nor do I think that I would say something this stupid.

Maybe because it was an American commercial? The bolded also goes for your statement; you know that each region gets different advertisement.

"My Mom said it looked really fun when she saw the commercial, she also doesn't like video gaming"

my mom said the same for various wii commercials and she also doesn't like video gaming

do you think your second sentence still applies?............................................

I was considering to buy an Xbox 360 for this game. It's a shame how this turned out.

Oh don't even get me started.

I was so stoked of becoming a Jedi, wielding my own invisible lightsaber! Damn shame...

I still remember the audience shouting and giving a standing ovation when they showed this game at E3. "Hype" couldnt even begin to describe my anticipation for it. I'm crying as I am typing this.

They had to make this game to give them a reason to make a Star Wars Xbox 360 bundle. I could care less for the game. I got an R2D2 Xbox 360 out of it..
