Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 720 won't "be much different" from Xbox 360 - CD Projekt

Well duh, the 720 is just going to be an extension of the 360, featuring a similar interface and multimedia apps. The only major difference between the two will be next-gen graphics and possibly built-in Kinect functionality or some type of tablet controller option to once again compete with Nintendo.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

well read this title last night in neogaf
let's see who will think CDP is talking about power, not platform(hope no one)

If anyone actually reads the OP he doesn't in any ways shape or form imply that next xbox won't be vastly more powerful than the current 360

Only that in terms of programming for it, it will be similar. He's simply saying MS won't try to do anything to edgy or far out there in terms of internal setup. Basically it could an incredibly powerful machine but will probably use the same basic tech that all graphics systems and such are built on.

Probably. I see them pushing their kinect more tough.

"According to the latest Xbox 720 rumour, the console packs Blu-ray drive, requires an internet connection and is down for release in Christmas 2013."

On topic, I don't think this is a comment on the console's power as such, but good to know.

If it does require an always on Connection i know i more then likely wont buy it. But then Halo 5 will prop change my mind xD .

Same, I would seriously consider switching to PC only if Sony/MS decide to pull something like that. Don't know if even MGS5 could sway me.

All he's saying it won't be a transition like to the PS3 where developers were having troubles with the cell processor. And that is to be expected, MS have a solid SDK that developers are pretty happy with, so they'll very likely just be adding on to it more graphical and processing power and not changing much of the internal architecture.

What is interesting though will be the fact that developers will probably also have the option of built in more accurate kinect support next gen as a secondary control option, and also probably some sort of tablet control as a tertiary control. All this besides the primary controller. Now that to me is very exciting since it opens up a tremendous amount of options for developers to experiment and innovate with.
