You mean the Gabecube.
Can anyone explain this in layman's terms please? How much more powerful will it be than the PS3 if this is true?

I dunno, Microsoft wants to drive the adoption of DirectX as the standard. They might just be happy for Sony to use it in their console.
Of course Sony probably wouldn't want to as most things I've read have stated that OpenGL is superior.

Probably because this AMD crap processor delivers around 35GFlops CPU power (roughly 1.5 SPUs in the cell)?
On the other hand, maybe Sony has figured out a way to use the GPU in the chip to do the work of the SPUs in games that currently use the SPUs for graphics (pre-)processing, and use the other GPU for displaying 1080p. If there are games that use the SPUs for physics/general math stuff, then this PS4 would be in serious trouble (maybe such games will be declared illegal by fall 2013 .
In any case, this PS4 rumour looks akwardly cheap

If the PS4 is to utilize a form of DirectX and MS integrates Blu-ray, they'll both be paying royalties to eachother and basically end up at around zero...
Unfortunately I believe this, but to abandon the much superior power line for those AMD CPUs makes me face palm. The only thing that can save the specs is if the embedded GPU can be utilized physics.... which it can't.

I know what you're doing here but that would only work if it was true.
Based on the IGN specs the standalone GPU is much more poweful than PS3 one. That's not even ounting the on-board graphics on the APU which by themselves should rival that of the PS3..
