Forums - Gaming - Wii biggest 3rd Party Flop Ever ?

Wii has been the biggest flop in gaming business since i remember... For Nintendo sure Console was one of the biggest sucess in history but for 3rd Parties companies the console is the biggest flop ever and it isnt selling anymore, only Nintendo games sell on Console...

3DS doesnt seem to suffer from this and has games like Resident Evil coming and selling pretty well...

Why did this happen with Wii ? Lazy Developers or Just underpowerfull Console ?

2 against 1 problem. Wii never "lead" the market.

PS3 + 360 number was always bigger, plus they lacked Nintendo's behemoth first party, therefore competition is a little easier.

Ubisoft must be laughing at you wherever they are.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

You'll rarely find games perform like Capcom's games are on 3DS, ever, on a Nintendo console, since the SNES days. So yes, the 3DS is an achievement in that aspect.

My reason for Wii's uncapacity of reigning supreme this gen: no HD capabilities. It didn't fit with the business model pre-established by most 3rd parties, who were PS3-ready. When PS3 failed, Nintendo was not able to capitalize due to restricting the high-end graphics option to 3rd parties. Microsoft, however, capitilized.

Nintendo was able to produce an HD-ready console if the Cube was any indicator of HW performance/pricepoint ratio. Their lack of foresight on the importance of this strategical position caused them a half-victory. Blue ocean only gave them so much, they should have used it to capture the red ocean while they were there.

Excellent thread by the way.

Unbelievable.

It's unbelievable how much you despise the Wii.

I never! But I do despise Nintendo's lack of belief in themselves! Had they believed in themselves, the Wii would have been high-def capable. It makes me sad to think how much more Nintendo could have dominated had they had just a bit more foresight. Well, what don't kill you makes you stronger, BUT STILL! Opportunities like gen7 don't come around every day. MS was lucky Sony failed, they had little to offer. When they saw steam was picking up, they grew more courage and became a serious contender this gen. All Nintendo's doing.

Stats says otherwise. Top selling games on Wii (for the last year) Just Dance, Zumba Fitness.

Those are third party games and they are selling in the millions.

Otherwise even Nintendo can't sell on Wii anymore (recent releases - even Zelda - have vastly underperformed). The current dance crazy is the only thing keeping Wii going at this point. But then again, it's long past it's five year life span. So what? It's selling more software than Xbox did in it's fifth year.... :)

Haha, and that is truly amazing for a PoS HW with a great SDK and controller interface. 5 years is really amazing what the Wii actually pulled off! Let's not kid ourselves lol

O.o And, since when do you remember?

So, you only want the hits, don't you mate?

I though it was a REAL question, like which game do we think is the Wii biggest 3rd party flop ever?
