Why aren't you comparing the biggest selling PS3 exclusive to the biggest selling 360 exclusive? i.e. GT5 v Halo3

The recent shipments for GT5 show that it is crunching gears at the moment and in danger of stalling... unless it gets huge bundling its not getting to the dizzy heights of halo.

Anyway... Reach is way above 10m already... this site just doesn't want to count that... a bundled game is a bundled game.

That is because the site doesn't track digital sales.  We do'nt have XBLA sales numbers/ We don't have Vita digital software sales so why making a big deal about Halo reach numbers?

We can track bundles. I'm not saying track digital sales, I am saying track bundles.  Ignoring data we actually know seems a little odd.

We count bundled hard copies but not soft copies... dont see why...  two wrongs dont make a right.

It's not comprehensive to track digital sales of only some games and not all games. Shouldn't make special cases for certain games. Better to just track hard copies for all.

why?

that makes absolutely no sense.

..... so we know game x has had 1m bundles but we dont count them because we dont know how many digital sales game y had?

anyway, pointless debating it, we dont count them so thats that.

Yes because it makes it very inaccurate...  The retail sales on vgchartz are probably close to reality but if we add digital sales from the bundles we should have an idea how much it sold in total digital aswell.

It's funny to see it's always the same members who fall for that kind of topic, and get so personal about them.

What do you mean 'fall for'? This doesn't appear to be a troll thread. And who's getting personal? I think you're trying to create conflict that isn't there.

I dont think so. Gran Turismo 5 will close the gap but i think the difference will be a little bit for Halo Reachs favour.

Between the Gran Turismo5 XL Edition dont launch in Europe. I want to take a bet it will release this christmas in emaa.

At the current rate GT5 will outsell Reach (without digital sales)... there are more potential buyers for GT5 than Halo: Reach... in fact the XL Edition is not released in Europe yet (the biggest country for GT). In fact reach is more front loaded than GT5.

A little comparison:

GT5 2010: 5,264,164
Reach 2010: 7,100,482

GT5 2011: 1,786,379
Reach 2011: 1,594,218

GT5 2012: 307,832
Reach: 192,329

But if you add digital sales Reach will outsell GT5.

At the current Rate, GT5 is only outselling Reach by about 200k a year. It'll take about 7-8 years to catch Reach at that rate. It's not happening.

It's already 100k this year... at current rate it will outsell Reach by 500k+ this year without XL Edition in Europe.

What!?! 500k+? Can I purchase weed from you?

It wouldn't surprise me if it did. The primary reason for that is GT5 is the only GT game released this gen and may be the only one released for the PS3, so sales should continue for at least 3 more years. Halo Reach's sales will drop off after Halo 4 comes out, since most people opt for the newest version of a game. Though Reach's sales may have a rise slightly before Halo 4 comes out for people who get sucked in by the hype for Halo 4 and can't wait to get started. Though it does seem like this is a strange comparison, like comparing the sales of Starbucks coffee to Pepsi, they aren't really competing products.

GT5 is yet in TOP100 sales (54 last week)... Reach is not even in the TOP100... in May the gap will be 200k for the year and it will grow in the holiday season.

That's like the sales are.

- GT5 is selling now 20k per week.
- Reach is selling now less than 10k per week (the 100th game sold 11,323 this week).

Do you want me to do the math for you?

Nah, don't bother. For arguments sake, lets just say it does outsell Reach by 500k for the year. It would still be behind Reach by one million units. You think it can outsell Reach by one million from 2013 onwards?
