This is amazing news. Personally I am excited that Retro is growing so fast and so big. We all thought Retro would become the new Rare. RareWare had four teams that were making at least four different games at a time. I hope that Retro can become a big enough studio to make four games at a time as well a Nintendo EAD in North America.
I have been pushing for Nintendo to build more studios in North America and Europe. While this isn't Nintendo creating a couple new studios expending the existing AAA cream of the crop is a good start. Also Microsoft did something similar with 343 stealing developers from Retro and Guerilla. Nintendo knows its old competitors are some of the best developers in the industry, the acquisition of staff from the top tier studios around the world like Crytek show Nintendo is serious about creating some A list games.
I can't wait to see what Retro is bringing. I am hoping for a western targeted title based around a new IP for WiiU's launch!
