I wanted to dedicate this thread to bugs.  Sure there have been several bug threads but none to admire their achievements and accomplishments.  Anyone else feel bad when they kill a bug?  The worse almost to me is stepping on snails...  I feel so bad!  They were just trying to get across that side walk of death and I can't see them so well in unlit areas of side walks while going to people's houses/apts.  I wish their shell was hard enough to withstand the impact of a foot. 

The only bugs I do not have any remorse for in killing would be mosquitoes, ticks, leaches, etc..  The ones that want my blood or to mooch off me.  Those worms that get inside people's intestines are freaking sick.  I had someone tell me a story that some USA soldier came back and was losing a lot of weight at first.  At first this was great but then something was wrong.  Eventually, (or so the story goes) one of those worms made it's way to his exit hole and he felt it flapping against his leg while on the pot.  I think I would probably faint if that happened to me (or I'd shit myself but not really since I would be on the toilet).

My favorite bug is the Praying Mantis.  I actually had one as a pet for a little.  I found it outside right before winter by my old apt while I was going to college.  I brought it inside and put it in one of my iguana's old little cages.  He lasted for another month or two and got a chance to slaughter a lot of crickets.  I had to keep the crickets separate from him because he would just rip their heads off and not even eat all of them. Other bugs I like butterflys, dragonflys, rollie pollies, ladybugs, ants (I've gotten them drunk before, so drunk that they drown in happiness), Daddy Long Legs (because I know they won't hurt me), Dung Beetles and (another one of my favorites) Bombardier Beetles.

What is your favorite bug?  You have any good bug stories?  Did you get bitten/stung by any recently?  Did you massacre any recently? I need to know what is going on with human - bug relations.  Also, what bug would you be if you were one?  I think I would be a dragonfly since they can fly so bad ass.  I wouldn't want to be a Prayin Mantis male considering they are killed by the female after sex.  Feel free to post some pics or videos (funny if possible) of bugs going about their daily lives.

So there is no bug love on VGC... Where is sadmanlovesvgc when you need him? I believe I am just as sad as him right now but I need confirmation.

sorry to say seth, but I don't really like bugs for the most part, they just freak me out :P

but I do like ladybugs :)

Dragonflies are the only ones on that list that doesn't bug me, so it gets my vote.

Now that i've figured out what a rollie pollie is, you can add that to the list of non-insects.

I consider them all bugs so they are included.  There are basically only 5 differences between the classes Arachnida and Insecta.   Worms aren't even close but they are bugs.  Here how about I change it to the bug thread.  I also went ahead and removed the word insect out of the op completely.  Will that please you?  Probably not
